I guess it would make an OK format for a one-day All Star event, especially at night...
Trash it? No. But, there's a difference between telling the audience every 15 seconds that everyone loves it (which they don't) and just presenting the race.
Paul, I went up in the stands and watched all the finals and it was pretty neat. The only thing that I did different on the starting line was when we were in lanes 2 or 3, I would wait until after the car did the burnout before I walked out past the tree. The hardest part is trying to keep track of the condition of four lanes. But other then that, it was business as usual. The fans that I was sitting around in the stands looked like they were loving it, and on Monday I was at a restaurant in Mooresville Nc, and the girl that was my waitress recognized me from the track and said that she had been at the race. I asked her how she liked it and she said she loved it and couldn't wait until the next one. I do not have a problem with a 4-wide race one time a year.We often complain that nhra doesn't do anything to improve/grow the sport. When they finally dare to try something new, and different everyone panics... and says "don't let it be an offical race-exhibition only". I don't get the fear of a slight change, it's still a drag race. Sit back & enjoy.

I wish others here could be as open minded as you are sir. 4-wide will not end drag racing, the sky wil not fall because of it, ect. ect.
Instead of comparing to ball games, I think compare the race to a track meet dash. Doesn't mater if there are 2 lanes 4 lanes or 8 lanes.
Zmax on the east coast, Vegas on the west. Both have two races so let the fans decide what one to go to. And maybe Indy for the folks in the center of the country.
