Kieth, I look at your picture and for the life of me I cannot fathom how someone can get confused because there are more than two cars on the track. They are all right there in front of you. At the end of the run the scoreboards flash the ET's of the 4 lanes and then the mph's of the 4 lanes and have win lights. Two cars move on, 2 cars go home each round. Eight first round losers, 4 second round and then the event winner, runner up and two semi finalist in the last round. Is that hard to understand? I think a lot of people close their minds and make up situations to try to justify their view on why they resent something different, and this event is different.
In Jim's defense, he was probably talking about 2nd round when Alexis won and Blake lost. It is hard to tell a plain black car with a big Monroe sticker on it's flank from a busy black car with a big Patron on it's door. Look at the picture again and you may get confused because there are two mostly white cars running, so which one is Tasca and which one is Wilkerson?
The 4 wide race gets people talking about the sport of drag racing which I think is good for the sport. Local TV and print media run stories about the 4 wide where they normally ignore the fall race and the closer race in Atlanta. Business owners in this area take their employees to the 4 wide event, NASCAR team employees come out in mass to see the event (even though they raced the night before in Darlington), every day people that do not attend drag race events ask questions about the 4 wide race.
I am not trying to change the opinions of those with all the negativity, but I am suggesting that anyone that hasn't been before to see it live to put it on their bucket list and go to determine for yourself. I believe, like most I talk to, that you will enjoy the excitement of this event. You will also quickly see who the drivers are that can use the mass between their ears for more than holding up their hat.
What 16 car limit? You mean you want an all run field?
