Here's a thought – lane swaps!
So . . . Q1's crew chief decides he wants Q8's lane (1,8,9 & 16 run first round)
Does Q8 now have the choice of forcing Q9 or Q16 to change lanes ?

Possible Chinese Fire Drill ! -

I know, too much time on my hands - ;)

It only took 61 posts for a legitimate complaint..........I am impressed

is anybody actually going or are we bad mouthing this from the comfort of our own couches again?

I'm going. There's no doubt that 4 wide will be awesome, I know that from September. I'm just not yet sold on using it in eliminations. I'm not really sold on it in qualifying, either, only because in just a few minutes, it will be over. :(

I was at the exhibition last year and for an exhibition it was great to hear and feel. Wasn't much for watching though as nobody had a clue who won or really what happen on the run. It was all about the sound and feel.

When I got home and watched the coverage and it really wasn't able to do it justice...but since it is complete sensory event it really can't.

Maybe after seeing more runs it'll be easier to follow. Also with one under their belts maybe the coverage will think of new ways to cover it.

I'm not sold on it for Eliminations but if its once a year I suppose its livable. Maybe with changing the format for a race they will think about going to 1/4 mile at the tracks that can handle it. A season filled with variety of 1000ft, 1/4mile, 2 lane, 4 lane night be interesting. Not my first option but at least worth looking at.

Personally, I love football and can't get enough of it but that doesn't mean I want 4 teams playing at once, thats the same way I feel about this. I'm willing to see how it plays out but doubtful

Yeah, I'll be the guy with the retro BRUT hat on, celebrating with Capps in VL Sunday!!!!

WAR Capps
WAR Snake
WAR Shoe
WAR Primm
WAR Cope
WAR Roland
WAR Wynn's

WAIT....................Didnt JROD.........Uhhhhhhhh.....Ferget it!

hahaha...

Actually he was that guy who rode down track laying on a skate board type thing being dragged by an Alcohol Funny Car back in the early 80's on "THAT'S INCREDIBLE"..... wasn't he?

Come on JROD....Give us the photos

Thank you for saying that Mike. What a bunch of complaining bed wetting a$$holes.

I'd be going if we weren't getting ready to go to Baytown.

I see drag racing as Big Daddy vs. Connie Kalitta. One against the other with one winner and one loser.
Not Big Daddy vs. Tom, Dick and Harry.

Call it what you want, but once you start to change what is the unquestionable foundation this sport was built on, then it isn't hard to see that this sport has very serious problems staying relavent in the racing world.
It's like the NHRA is saying that our sport has hit a wall, and that we need a twist to keep fans interested. We need a freak show to make people notice.
Sad....
Even with this crap, not only will people not notice, but it scrambles the product that represents what this sport is all about. It also takes away the attention of the individual drivers and sponsors recieve because there isn't enough time, and twice as many to mention.

It's like Nascar going to a figure 8 with a stop light, or like playing baseball with six bases.
Stupid.

What will they do with all the down time? Shoot twice as many t-shirts through the plastic tubes? I can't say much i've already been put down and out for posting my view's about on here, (even though i thought this was a open place to do so). So i'll just say let's wait and see the circus opps, i mean the outcome. I just hope after all the great years in 2 lane drag racing that this is'nt the wave of the future. We'll always have the nostalgic races right? Please don't say this is the end of sunday sunday sunday as we know it! :( O wait heres the room for the Pro Mods and Bikes we were talking about in a different thread!!!!!!!!!

Great post, George.

I think change is not always a bad thing.
For the more casual fan i guess it's amazing to see 4 cars go down the track instead of 2.
I really would like to see it for real myself.
But to do it every weekend? Nah rather not
Plus i think it's really confusing for the team also; normally when i'm behind the car and i see it going down the track i see in the corner of my eyes the other guy, and kinda know if we're in front or not.

Now you see the other guy, but you're still not sure if you're winning or not :p

George, I'm sceptical about this as well, but for reasons other than yours! There simply isn't enough Fuel cars to justify this! If there were 30-35 in Each class I'd say lets go! 16-18 cars is what 4 laps??? And that's factoring no major Oildowns, how will that play out if 2 of the 4 **** on the track?

I quit watching the circus when I was about 12. Didn't go again until I was forced to take my kids for a few years. Don't ever plan on watching the elephant c#ap again. This is just another circus so I won't watch. Cancelled my reservations for Las Vegas when I heard they were building two more lanes.

They haven't even started that project, and have no plans at the current time to do so!

I think it will be cool and an assault on the senses but I do worry about it from a safety stand point.
Especially after what happened to Antron! I shutter to think what that tire could do to a fellow competitor down the track. Look what a foam block does to these cars at those speeds could you imagine?

Safety aside I will be watching it!
