2026 Schedule (2 Viewers)

I heard the rumor this weekend the TBA race is hopefully Great Bend Kansas. I thought it was a crazy idea. They have been closed the last two years over a track paving dispute. They will be ready for 2026 and are going to hold a double divisional next year. It was also the track of the first ever national event. Wouldn’t it make sense to go back on the 75th year? Now I’ve never been there or even know the size of the place. I do know it wasn’t a national event level track a few years ago but it could be possible for a one off event.
Oh, very interesting! That would be cool if true. I've only seen it via video from Rocky Mountain Race Week which used it a few years ago.

Whoever you heard that from has probably never been there either. Or has VERY high hopes.
I wouldn’t think there would be enough hotels for a large race. I thought it was a bizarre idea but with the comp plus “uncertainty of the TBA track” comment makes it seem like it’s a track that is a work in progress. I would think Flying H would be a better fit mainly because of location.

If they’re going to Great Bend then they should also hold the final in Phoenix to really keep with tradition

weak attendance coupled with the ginormous annual EDC show held on the entire vegas speedway property. that event makes more money
for the speedway corp. than i think the nascar and nhra race combined. the EDC dates are just after the previous vegas1 dates. the vegas1 nhra race
i think cut into setup for the EDC show.

How much an EDC event profits is gross. 400,000+ people. Hundreds of millions in economic impact.

Too many full flights.

Sounds like a great time.
The local first responders always complain about having to deal with all the drug overdoses…

I love going to Las Vegas motor speedway, it is a great facility and I always go for both races. It’s lame that they’re taking away the second event.

When my dad worked for NHRA, ‘88-’97, there were ongoing conversations during the year regarding the potential of conflicting events for the upcoming year. This even included proximity to the venue and weeks before and after the event.

I wonder what conversations happen these days.

I am sure the EDC event was not just “haphazardly” thrown together and surely a full LAS project a year or two in advance.

I am sure there will be plenty of Narcan, trash taking weeks to clean up, and destroyed grass needing lots of sod.

In the fall of 2021 they held EDC in October because of everything that was going on, so the race was like one week after the festivities and it was pretty messy. Our friend at the time worked for the exotic car racing facility on the compound, she said it was quite the ordeal to clean up everything. That said, the primary place of EDC is the NASCAR track, I think if they REALLY wanted to they could work around it and make the race happen. I guess I’ll just have to go to the Pomona race instead.

Is there something else going on at the same time as the fall Vegas race? Last year we got caught up in some damn jogging race and almost missed our plane back to Texas. Ubers had to go way around blocked streets and many just gave up.

They were holding the “Las Vegas marathon.” This year that is scheduled for October 26th so it shouldn’t be an issue.

I have. It struck me as a nice place, but more in the mom-and-pop way than a national event facility. That's in no way a criticism as most of my favorite tracks are like that, but it definitely lacked the infrastructure to handle any significant amount of spectators. Also, traffic could be an issue as the nearest interstate/4-lane highway is 35 miles away in the closest direction and 50+ for how I imagine most people will go. And as someone else mentioned, hotels would also definitely be an issue.

I'm thrilled that the place is going again, but I just don't see it as a practical choice for a national event except for a SportsNational.
