Look at that Maryland switcharoo! After it was announced the IHRA President Cup Nationals is back, then NOPE, not coming back this year, and now MIR with an NHRA NATIONAL EVENT! Not sure how big they are if they will be Nitro only on the Pros. I remember Budds Creek was a WWCS stop on the Division 1 tour in the 80s and early 90s before switching to IHRA the same year Epping did (1992), and Division 1 had to reinvent it's tour. Great job Royce Miller and MIR!
Doubt that's it, Charlotte was on this year's schedule as a 2-wide race when it came out and then they announced it would be 4-wide later at PRI.
I'd like to think it's because they're wanting to go somewhere that weekend that would require a little work before it could host a national event (Rockingham?) and have zMAX waiting in the wings as a backup plan if that doesn't work out.
I’m a little disappointed that Vegas 1 is gone but I’m happy to see a couple of less 4 wides on the schedule. The TBD date is the weekend prior to St. Louis so let’s not rule out Flying H. Wishful thinking that maybe Bandimere could be up and running by that point but I don’t see that happening for 2026. I don’t think they have touched the new land as of yet.
- vegas1 and zmax2 both gone. is that odd considering they are SMI tracks? i'm a little surprised. low attendance?
...... 2025 vegas1 did not have presenting sponsor, 2025 zmax2 does not have presenting sponsor yet either
- odd to have the TBD race between reading and st louis
- another season start in gainesville, i hope that odds are good there will be another pre-season event in bradenton, even if just a test and not adv't as a race.
- still a 3.5 week break between seattle and brainerd. i thought that hole would have been filled for '26. hopefully bandimere back in '27?
- MIR is certainly a surprise. a week after memorial day weekend.
- glad to see chicago and bristol on schedule. chicago thru bristol is 4 races in 1 month. busiest stretch on schedule
What's the chances the NHRA went opposite dates of the 3 IHRA races to deliberately try and squash that new organization?
But last I saw IHRA only set dates but not locations.
