Did Tony coast on down to the end of the track so as to put that gunk down for 3/4 the length of the entire lane like on Sat? Or, did he actually pull over and stop as a courtesy to everyone involved today - fans and racers alike - as he should have done yesterday? I would think the Champ would know better.

I wondered why he didn’t pull over too, it occurred at 300 feet. Maybe he just didn’t know what happened.

Yesterday’s rear end failure on Schumacher’s car tore the entire front of the differential housing off. The ring gear was partially exposed…never seen anything like that. From Clay’s YouTube channel. Wonder what today’s rear end will look like…..View attachment 17303

I'm still surprised there could be so much oil (or whatever they call it) in those things that they make that much of a mess so far down the track. I wonder how many quarts there are in there?

I don't think it's the volume, but it's the chemical makeup of the gear oil.

They hold about 5 quarts. A lot of teams use the Redline Heavy Shockproof gear oil.

Back off the traction compound a bit , and those rear ends and everything else will last longer ! Forget about new E.T. and speed records, produce a show that fans will sit though.

Yes, they were a little hard to listen to over the PA at the track yesterday. She is pleasant enough, and is well-spoken, but I just don't think she adds much of interest to the commentary. I couldn't care less if there is a woman on the mic or not, but she better know a LOT about drag racing, and have a lot of pertinent information to talk about as a color commentator. When you get a so-so announcing team like this, I REALLY miss the days of Bob Frey and Alan Reinhart. Those guys would always fill the down time with really interesting drag racing info. Even during the back up and pre-stage time periods, they would always have interesting things to say. Not meaningless drivel. I even remember hearing the great Linda Vaughn doing color commentary at Pomona from time to time years ago, and for those who were not there, she really knew her stuff, believe it or not. Why couldn't they get, say, Brittany Force to do a stint during the fuel sessions? Or a guy like Bruce Larson, who was in the house on Saturday. Or the Snake, who was also there?

I think Courtney may be better off doing the finish line interviews, instead of in the booth. Or, maybe she'll step up her game, and get better doing the color commentary. I guess we'll see.

True that. In Sonoma 2024, a dude in a top dragster blew the transmission with fancy synthetic lubricant on the starting line and went about 250 feet before he pulled it off the track. That was a legendary mess, that had the track screwed up the entire day on Saturday. They had to spend all night scraping and rebuilding the surface. It was nearly impossible to clean up.

Boy, that was an outstanding Semi-final round of Top Fuel. What a race between Doug Kalitta and Mike Ashley. Both drivers cut great lights.

So Rd 3 of the Pro classes is done. What a job they have done getting this far today. They are on very quick turn-arounds. Can they get in the Final rounds by 8pm? The track temp will be really cool by 8pm though. Tire smokers and pedaling, anyone?

And how about the "Old Man" Doug Gordon, winning TA/FC? Doug was REALLY on his game today. How about those lights? .010, .013, and .017! Are you kidding? What a driving job by Doug. I love those guys. And I just know Maddie was there helping her family in the pits after she went out in T/F round one today. Congrats to the Gordons!

Okay, I will listen to the reason, we are here to learn, you are dealing with these issues at the track, Much Respect to You ! Is a metallurgy problem with the gearsets like Strange has been having for a few years now? And how would a little less grip not reduce strain on the drive line and engines of the nitro cars? Bottom line is the show suffers greatly, and so the the following in the future. Just trying to understand.

I think Courtney is a great addition to the booth. She has a great personality and charisma. When I listen to NHRA.tv or am at the track I want to be entertained and I think the current crew does an amazing job. And that’s not any disrespect to Alan, Frey or any other legends who came before them. We just live in a different time now

What a phenomenal race. The vibe at the track was different than any track I’ve been to. Phenomenal overall, watching Geoff Monise come into the final round of qualifying not qualified and getting in and taking it all the way was amazing! Doug Gordon has insane engine troubles all weekend and their team pulled together and got it done. Greg Anderson shows everyone that he’s still got something for em. Richard Freeman and Tony Stewart kick the doors in in top fuel. Matt Hagan gets it done. Garrett Bateman gets the win in top alcohol, first win since 2017, super cool, I was rooting for the blower car but still. It was a magical weekend for me, what a cool racetrack and a great race!

I know i sound old,but can we have a little quiet when cars arent running,we dont need any1 blaring over the intercom the whole time cars arent on the track.

the crew chiefs earned their money today. Great race. I really expected them to call it after E2. I'm sure the pits are rocking tonight.
