Has the max. injector opening been 65 square inches for some time?
Yes, but it was measured at the opening (out front). It appears that the change is to measure it at the butterflies or throttle body.

It's always been measured by the plate sizes, which of course have to fit/seal at the hole.

Disappointing but not surprising NHRA didn't have the courage to employ performance restrictions in TF and FC. I agree with many of the keyboard crewchiefs that rolling these cars back 50 mph could be done without significant cost increases.
