If they had not taken the hood scoops off the fans wouldn't have known that they had changed to EFI.

Started racing early 70's and Drag Cars have always had hood scoops, cool air has always been better than hot air. I believe it should be option to use one or not. I don't think fans care either way and there's no manufacture support so leave it open. I also think Carbs should be an option also.

I don't remember fans complaining that the cars didn't look stock enough...or needed stickers to ID the makes. I know some drivers bemoaned the tall scoops as a safety issue....or as a competitive issue (not seeing the lights), and a lot of fans don't care how the fuel is getting into the motors.......but it sounds like someone lobbyed the NHRA for these changes....there's so little manufacturer involvement from Mopar and Ford, who could it have been?

Personally I remember quite well when I started whining about the stock being taken out of pro stock. When the Beretta's came into the class, they had to move the rear wheels about 3" forward to keep the tires from hitting the trunk area. I believe it was Bob Glidden who was quoted as questioning NHRA's motives, saying "what do you think they'd say if I moved my rear wheels ahead?" The next issue I had was when I saw a TV shot of WJ's car on the line and the hood was bowed way up in the center, nearly to the roof! I couldn't imagine any sort of check template that car could've possible passed. Now the cars have stretched noses, they're so narrow they almost need a kick stand and they're about a flip-up body away from being a funny car. I love funny cars, but, there's already a funny car class, so how about putting some stock back into the class?

I thought it was over the top when the wheel tubs started showing up in the quarter windows of hatchbacks....

Yeah, but why ? I think there would many crashes & injuries in that scenario.
