Mooresville, N.C., March 8, 2011 – The NHRA’s Pro Stock category will have a celebrity among their ranks at this weekend’s Tire Kingdom Gatornationals, as 2004 NASCAR champion Kurt Busch will make his debut in the “factory hot rods”. Although the two are now good friends, Summit Racing driver Greg Anderson believes he may have played a part in Busch’s decision to try his hand at straight-line racing following their initial encounter several years ago, thanks to his performance driving a Busch-owned street car in a spur of the moment match race. As the defending Pro Stock champion prepared to head to Gainesville Raceway, he recalled the details of that eventful evening. “I feel partly responsible for giving Kurt Busch the...

Three eighty runs will do that to a Pro Mod guy. “We had a great weekend. I knew Al (Billes) wouldn’t need much time to get acquainted with my car and my guys but man did everything gel quickly. They crept up on the tune up but after a few hits Al was on it,” said Knowles. Knowles qualified his Tim McAmis built ’68 Camaro in the number three position with a 3.87 eight mile pass. This is the week Clay Millican has been anticipating for some time. He gets to look at his newly-sponsored Parts Plus Top Fuel dragster at the race track instead of at the team’s shop near Memphis, Tenn. Better yet, he gets to drive it this weekend in NHRA’s Tire Kingdom Gatornationals at Gainesville (Fla.) Raceway. “It’s time to go back to work, and I am excited about it,” Millican said. “Not only do I get to drive the race car, but I get to go out and take care of the Parts Plus vendors. We did get to race twice last year, including the second one in Las Vegas, so it’s not like we haven’t been on the track recently.” Co-crew chiefs Justin Crosslin and Mike Domalaga, who were at the mechanical helm in the races at...
