Not only are those very nice models I mean REALLY NICE models but there's a great photo gallery of 32 funny cars and the season opener. I was those exact events. I'd sure like to have a drink at that bar.
I remember when kids would bring their model funny cars to school in the 70s. One of the best ones I ever saw, I asked him what brand it was. He said he built it from scratch. For the longest time I wanted to know what scratch was and where you got it.
I also remember in first or second grade being asked who my favorite funny car driver was. You'd better had an answer to that question, too.
To me, those pics (and models) sum up my teenage years. I absolutely loved those NW cars and would go see them whenever I could.
The Green Elephant is still my all time favorite flopper.
