Yates to Allen Johnsons Team

Jim has a history of campaigning consistent race cars, and that is exactly what Allen needs. The Johnson's have been very quick and very fast again this year, but have lacked the consistency to go rounds, earn points and win more races. Jim is a detail guy, there can't be a downside to his work style or his help to the Mopar team.

Great decision by Roy and Allen to seek help. An even better decision to land Jim Yates.

Sure looks like it's paying off. Great car all day Sunday, would have been great to see him win that one. Allen was not happy with that holeshot loss.

Allen needs to work on his lights. He's better than he was last year and earlier this year, but he's frequently left on. That's ok unless you're running a Summit car or Edwards, then it's lights out. Nobody has the power to pass those guys...

Nobile is super quick. If he stays with the Johnson Mopar team next year, and if they can make the cars quicker and develop consistency (Jim Yates will be key to keep on board), he'll challenge for the class championship next year. He's a tremendous talent.

if he is better than the last 2 years, then id say he is working on it lol.

AJ and team definitely has the right stuff to be championship contenders, although setup and sometimes driving woes have hindered. Adding Yates just might produce the right combination to win a championship. All good guys with a lot of talent, so I’m looking forward to next season!

Excellent points David. There are two changes necessary for Allen to win a championship...

  1. Develop car/chassis consistency...run after run
  2. Quicker lights...run after run

Jeggie told me that the year of his first championship he was not the quickest car in the field. But, he was the most consistent car in the class. He said consistency won his first Pro Stock championship.
