I guess nobody read my previous post..............

I read it. And I blew it off because it sounded like a politically correct response to a fan from someone who had a few hours to formulate an anwer.

Warren sat there a long time and almost seemed surprised when Rick Stewert told him he was out. My feeble attempt at a guess with regard to the situation would be to say that when Johnny quickly staged WJ didn't see it on the tree and was patiently waiting as if he was expecting some sort of games to be played.

Randy, I was told that a camera in WJ's face could have been dangerous. I heard 'rumors' of a video tape that showed less than six seconds. I have to use 'rumor' since I didn't see the tape myself but there 'might' have been a malfunction...MIGHT, because the proof is 'out there somewhere'!;)

Hey Darryl:

At the risk of stealing a line from John Force himself, I watched it on my DVR three times. Rick Stewart could have painted a picture of the Christmas tree during the time between Johnny Gray staging his car and WJ's red light coming on.

If WJ was aware that Gray staged immediately after he pre staged, he had to have known he was pushing his luck.

In WJ's defense, Rick didn't do his typical academy award winning animated 7 second countdown in front of WJ and the TV cameras before autostart timed him out. And, as far as I know, Autostart is a random program (and should be due to the game players) which keeps it from being 100% predictable.

If WJ would have done his job and raced Gray straight up this conversation wouldn't be taking place.

I know there are several on here that say it was less than seven seconds, but I can tell you if it was, it wasn't a helluva lot less than seven seconds, I can assure you. I played it back several times, and depending on how quick you can trip the switch after Gray went in, it's all but seven seconds. On top of that, it didn't even sound to me like Warren had the Rpm's up preparing to go in. So even if it was five or six seconds, I'm not real sure he would have made it anyway.

No matter how many times you play it over, he was cutting it too close and that's the bottom line. And I'm not saying that as a Warren hater, either. As a matter of fact, I was pi$$ed and literally screaming at the screen when it happened. It just burns my a$$ to see that caliber of car sitting in 11th place in the standings.

Even though I've been a WJ fan for some time, I'm almost there with you. I sat there, watching the time clicking away and thought to myself "Jeez, he's going to get timed out!" and sure enough, it happened. Various drivers have been asked when they're going to retire, and many answer "When it isn't fun any more." Didn't look like WJ was having much fun after that.

I figured there wasn't going to be any interview though. He doesn't lose lightly. I remember one time a while back in the Diamond P era (Back when they still drove their cars back to the pits.) when Steve Evans was interviewing a driver who'd just beaten WJ. During the interview, Warren was stomping around in the back ground, angrily shoving his chute into the car and slamming the door. Then, before the interview was over, he fired his car up, whacked the throttle a couple of times, and left the area. Anyone else remember that? I thought it was quite halarious.

I was at today's race at Sonoma and while getting WJ's autograph he told another fan that it was indeed a malfunction and that he got "red-lit" at about 5 and a half seconds. He didn't seem quite as upset as I thought he would be. He compared it to the Steve Johnson-Matt Smith deal at Indy a few years back..... timing equipment malfunction.

Can't compare it to Johnson. There was a photo to back up (prove) the malfunction. ;)

Compulink counts down to an exact seven (7) seconds on every racer, in every class. If he really claimed "5 1/2 seconds" that's hilarious. What would he have measured it with, his wristwatch?

Warren has as much, or more, MPH than anyone this year, yet he sits in 11th place. I think Warren would make a great crew chief for his new driver...trained by his son Kurt.

the problem with warren putting someone else in the car is it will hinder his sons chances of ever winning a championship even further. in order for Kurt win a title he has get the best of the cagnazzi cars,GA/JL and a couple others. putting a lightning quick driver in GM performance parts car will present kurt with another huge obstacle and this one would be coming from his own shop !!

Of coarse he dident use his wristwatch, he knows how to count. One thousand one, One thousand two, One thousand three, ETC !
I would expect nothing less from any driver, It was the timeing clock, a quick light, bad track prep, sun in my eyes, line lock failed, drove thru the clutch, a girl in the stands with big boobs distracted me and on and on and on!:D

You've been digging through your old Diamond P tapes haven't you???

I think that's it right there Randy. Johnny went in and turned the top light on..and it was a while before WJ did.

WJ lights the top bulb..and it was immediately that Johnny fully staged.

Bottom line...Warren needed to wake up.

If someone checked..I wonder how many hole shots he's lost this season..and I'm a Johnson family fan..well..a drag racing fan. I would rather he hit some lights and show these punks wassup..hehe..did I say that?

Can someone direct me to the website/video/article/interview/first hand conversation with WJ etc. that says he was timed out before the 7 seconds was up? I've looked everywhere, even got an email from corporate and nothing was mentioned about it. I'm not saying there isn't something somewhere that says it,I just want to see it for myself. As far as WJ getting out of the car,he will,WHEN HE GETS DAMN READY.

Let's see if I got this right. WJ gets timed out, so he has a flawed strategy, he is too old, he is playing games, he doesn't know how to count, etc. Well, at least he didn't come up with some stupid excuse like Greg Anderson did when he got timed out! As a matter of fact, I don't believe I have heard any "excuse" for what happened. Like I stated previously, I believe it to be an equipment malfunction and until I hear differently, from someone that was in the car, I'll just ignore this idle chatter!!

Dubya Jay has earned the right to do whatever he dammed well pleases. I certainly don't have the huevos to make any suggestions to the man who has forgotten, remembered and then forgotten again more than any of us will ever know about this game.

You haven't heard any excuses from that camp because WJ knows EXACTLY what happened, and it was either him or his equipment. No sense in crying about it ... fix it and move on to the next race.

You are saying that you will not believe it was driver error but was equipment failure that caused the D/Q? That is until WJ admits he screwed up.
Im glad I don't plan on holding my breath until that happens!

YEP. But, if he does say it was not an equipment malfunction, would you please hold your breath??
