Why wasnt the Winternationals moved back to the traditional Feb date after the covid, track, etc issues?
Starting first day of spring now.....

weather in Pomona can be iffy in February as well. Better chance for a crowd by waiting

The news the other day that DrFauci admitted he was wrong on social distancing, the origin of the virus, shuttering schools and that the closing of Disney, the national parks, all the sports events and auto racing events was unnecessary really shows that all the damage from the pandemic was man made… the virus and the reaction to it.
We should strive to put things back the way they were. Having the Winternats at Pomona in February would be a good start

Bob,

Not arguing, just discussing. You have to stay pretty far south until mid April at least.

The teams used to run Pomona and Phoenix then off to Gainesville. Then we would work back across hitting Atlanta, and Houston on the way to Las Vegas. We no longer have Atlanta and Houston, so what would you do?

Going to Pomona, Phoenix, Gainesville then back to Vegas makes no logistical sense. Would you run three out west before Gainesville? And with all the teams now testing in Florida, they would be driving across the country another time.

And, starting after NFL is over, will get us more eyeballs both at the track and on TV.

Alan,
Always respect your opinion, but how many teams out there now are true "nomads"? I mean racing and staying on the road race to race. Willing to bet early in the season most go home to Brownsburg or wear ever their base is, if it's 2 weeks or more between. I do agree that the schedule with G-Ville first makes more sense with testing down there, going back to Cali and Arizona traveling back to FLA. then going back to Vegas.

There is also a Double Divisional (Regional) At Firebird.......
this confused me the other day too looking at schedule. i read something somewhere and about DD in phoenix, and my brain just says 'firebird'.
can't get it thru my head it's now 'wild horse pass' ;) ....... firebird doesn't appear on schedule until may 17-19 for first divisional of year in div. 6

Part of the announcement about the Phoenix track at PRI was the renaming of it. It is now Firebird Motorsports Park.

thanks for the clarification alan.......so the name of track on nhra.com is incorrect (lodrs div. schedule) ...... i kinda' liked the name 'wild horse pass motorsports park'

No I agree the teams need to have travel that makes sense, especially in these days of inflation and high fuel prices. I didn’t take into account the loss of those races in Houston and Atlanta.

Someone should try to rewrite this song to reflect the NHRA season events instead of Indycar….🤔
