Episode 7 The 1976 Spring Nationals

A very historic race.....I'll leave it at that for those who don't know or remember

Another classic, though not nearly as old.. the 2000 Auto Club Finals. The final event of the 2000 season featuring Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Truck, and Pro Stock Bike. Gary Scelzi has his 3rd Winston Championship after a very heated rivalry with Tony Schumacher. It's a miracle Schumacher was back in the car at all after his Memphis crash a month prior. John Force tied Bob Glidden with his 10th Winston Championship. The late Bruce Sarver was driving Allen Johnson's Funny Car. Jeg Coughlin dominated Pro Stock and won his first title. Angelle Seeling won her first in Pro Stock Bike and Bob Panella won back to back in Pro Stock Truck. It was also the final event to be produced by John P Mullin and lead by Dave McClelland. Sadly Steve Evans had passed away a few weeks earlier. Joe Amato announced his retirement here as well. A lot of changes heading into the 50th anniversary season of NHRA!

24 years between those races and:

Shirley was still in the driver's seat

after starting in '79 Joe Amato retires(!)

Angelle starts winning Championships (now considered the winningest female in professional motorsports history)

Dave Mac retires from the booth.......at least he retired those lapels earlier!
