Will we see Busch's car again?...?.

That's great news. Maybe Mopar (or Shell) could fly him in to attend the Sunday NHRA races that follow the Saturday Cup races. His presence alone would be a continued boost for us and garner some coverage with the Cup gang.
I don't think this is going to happen-Kurt seems to enjoy drag racing-I don't think he wants to get an ulcer going from one race to another an back on the same weekend.

I'm sure there is plenty of love for Kurt Busch, but seriously guys this just a novelty for him. My point is that he is not in the PS class for the long haul because he takes a spot from some team that is on the road for the long haul. That spot could be a make or break for a teams season either in gettring into a field or points. So its all good that he wants to race PS, but make a bigger commitment. I think if he wanted to do this as hobby race S/C or Top Sportman you can get your thrills there for going fast. IMO

In reply I just will say this: It's competition, it's racing, and it's America. And if there's money involved it's free enterprise. And next time it may not be Kurt Busch in the field of 16. It may be a guy/gal attempting just 2 or 3 races on the year. Maybe this is a R&D way for the Johnson's to see if they have the desire to run a 2nd car?

Check in, pass tech, and make the field. It's America, it's that simple.

Excellent post Steve. It's very common, at most events, for a car to sneak in to the field that has little or no chance of winning...while a competitive car that missed the set up misses the show. That's very similar to Kurt making the Gators. Sooo...what's best for the sport? A car sneaking in to the show, or Kurt making the show in a car that can run with the best cars in the show? Don't forget, Kurt brought additional people to the event and exposure that we never would have had.

I'll take Kurt.

Exactly.

John, I don't understand what you mean by " a car sneaking into the show".
There are 16 available spots – anyone on-site, that passes tech, has an equal shot at one of those spots.

I totally agree with you. I was responding to the earlier comment of Kurt taking a position away from someone else.

As other have noted Bruce, there are 16 spots, everyone in the house has a chance at qualifying for one of those spots. Would you rather NHRA adapted NASCAR's method of awarding guaranteed spots in the field for being in the long haul, based on previous wins, championships, etc? In other words, people like Greg Anderson and Jeg Coughlin et al ALWAYS have a spot, and the independents can all fight over the scraps? (NOTE TO ALL!! I am NOT slamming Greg or Jeg folks! Hey, that kind of rhymes. I'm just using them as an example.)
