Will Alcohol have to replace racing gas?

One avenue VP could take is in providing a "pure" E-85. The E-85 you buy at the pump can vary from 85% to 70% depending on who blends it and what time of year it is. That is the one thing that has kept me from switching. Dialing a car is hard enough without having to worry about and compensate for changes in fuel.

That would be a pretty good approach, Gregg. I've heard the stories, but we haven't gotten enough runs under our belt to have an opinion. I'm sure that we'll ultimately need to get a tester and stay on top of that, but many of the folks that I talk to that have a significant number of laps with various blends claim it's not that big of a deal to manage. I guess time will tell.

The problem isn't pollution...it's ignorant politicians who think they know what they are doing.

No if we can only stall them until Nov 2010.

all cars now running on racing gas will have to switch to alcohol if racing is going to even survive at all.

What gas do you think will be emitted when you burn alcohol? Helium? It is going to release CO2 as does everything else that burns.
If you are saying that race cars can't emit CO2 then they will all have to be electric. If your saying they have to be carbon neutral , perhaps alcohol fits that bill as you release approximately the same amount of carbon burning alcohol as the plant you make it from absorbs from the atmosphere to process into the plant.
Yeah, Nitro emits CO2 too.;)

Well you have to remember this is a big scam in the first place so just like the politicians the details and the truth don't matter. Switching fuel will be the least of our problems. They all seem happy with alternative fuels. Even rooting wood emits CO2.

Yeah, Nitro emits CO2 too.;)[/QUOTE]

Along with a few other nasty combustion byproducts. If you really want to see hell break loose, see what happens if the EPA gets interested in investigating what fans are being exposed to - especially during warmups in the pits.

I had an annual unannounced DEP site inspection visit at the plant today, the inspector had me in stitches talking about how stupid all this is.:D

I think if Nitro was anywhere close to Toxic breathingwise, I think NHRA would have been in trouble a long time ago! Nitro has been a staple of Drag racing for nearly 50 years, the EPA would come off pretty stupid to pretend it was unaware(?) of all of this in 2010!
