Jack Beckman had one on his Blackbird SC dragster.
I agree with Jack Beckman did have a canopy. But a TAD an TD weight matters. In SC with the size of the motor, more weight is not a issue, the SC can just dial in a pattern for a car with more weight or less. a TAD of TD are all in for a run, But TD needs not brake out. 30 pounds plus makes a big difference.

PS: I have said before I wouldn't race SUPER COMP or S/GAS those drivers or to damn good.

With so many Top Dragsters right up against the 6.10 floor, an extra 30 pounds might not be the worst thing to add to them
 
I would never run a canopy. I don't even want the body going up high enough to where I can't comfortably see over it when looking sideways (even with a window). Weight is a non-factor.
