Rex, I hope I'm wrong but it doesn't sound like Atco Did well. I read on another board that there was a lot of breakage and a low turnout. : (
Yeah, some of the alky drivers could not understand that burnouts are NOT done at 10,000 rpm. Not if you expect to make a pass with the thing.
And I cannot explain why the US Male with A guy as good as Phil Burkhart behind the wheel even ATTEMPTED to make a burnout, (which he did, horribly) as bad as that car sounded once it started. It sounded like it was running on four cylinders in the water box, apparently a broken camshaft. Really, not too smuckin' fart. Someone could have got hurt there, and there are grandstands only a few feet away. I talked to someone that was sitting there, and when flaming oil came from the left side zoomies, he told me he felt the hair singe on his face.
I can't understand how Bader does so well with his points race and fills up the joint, yet 25.00 a car load doesn't attract a crowd at a funny car race in NJ. Promoting the race to the locals who are in the best position to attend the race has to be the first and foremost thing. Perhaps they were relying more on the internet to attract the crowd and not local radio and newspaper???
I dunno, it's like the entire east coast is busy siting around listening to Lady Ga Ga, or goo goo, or WTF ever.......
This race had promise though, and regardless, overall, I really enjoyed the day.
