When does School start where you live?

They started this past Monday here, when I was in grade school we didn't start until the Tuesday after Labor day!

They start August 25th in Texas. We used to have to go around the 10th of August. In New Jersey, we didn't start until after Labor Day.

But this is the first year( in a very long time, all 3 boys have graduated and have moved out) that we don't have kid's starting school. We are taking are vacation on the week of kids going back to school.

I remember always starting after Labor Day, and finishing around the first week of June. And whats with all the teacher service days they have now, and half days, and all this other stuff??

Brownsburg starts the 20th, Avon and Clermont already started this week. Too early in my opinion. And guess what, they have a half day on the 29th. They are not even in school for 2 whole weeks before they start getting half days...

Here in Mass some start the Wed after Labor Day but some do start a few days before. A guy I knew in PA said his kids would start either the Wed or Thur before Labor day, but the Fri of that weekend thay would have a half day, because that was demoliton derby say at the local fair! And he was a school teacher in that town too.

My guys have been back in school here in AZ (Marana School District) since August 4th... Talk about screwin up summer vacation plans- they were back in 10 days earlier than last year..

That sounds like what I remember as a kid. My son starts next Tuesday, 8/19. Just got his teacher assignment yesterday.

Why don't they just go year-round?? We start here the day after Labor Day...then 2 half-days...then all day. Guess we have to sloooowly break the kiddies in or is it for the teachers??

My son is a teacher and he'd not fond of the 1/2 day stuff...

I start working on the 25th, 3 fun filled days of brainwashing sessions and the kids come back the 28th. Starting early doesn't bother me because if we started later we'd have to make it up on the other end and by the time Memorial Day rolls around I am dying for the two months off, as it is we're not scheduled to get out until June 18th.
