I saw on NHRA's Facebook page yesterday that during ESPN2"s coverage Dave Reiff had made a comment maybe he shouldnt have about Dave Connolly? What did he actually say? I was at work and missed the telecast.
I like to know too, I have no idea of what he said. Paul Page says an awful lot he should not say and/or is just out of touch. Paul treats the underdog teams like they NEVER have any decent chance and nearly blows my speakers if they actually win!
It was in the semi finals with Dave Connolly vs Allen Johnson, Dave R. was talking about Dave C. still being angry, "pissed" about being timed out at the ZMax four wide, then getting "handled" at a bracket race last weekend, that he was up on the wheel right now that he needed to redeem himself, in relation to reaction times. Dave C. with a .017 rt 6.584 holeshot win over AJ's .038 rt 6.580.
It's more used in circle track racing about a driver getting "up" on the steering wheel and really handling the car making it do what he needs to to do win. Hence Dave getting "up on the wheel" to nail a good reaction time, being ready, controlling the car.

I think Reiff is a very good commentator/pit reporter and if he happens to be honest and say "pissed" so what? I'm sick of clueless reporters who just mindlessly talk about something they couldn't care less about in a bland, lifeless fashion. Dave is a pleasure to listen to and very knowledgeable as far as I'm concerned.
exactly.....the 1950's Betty Crocker ABC TV "gosh darnit, son of a gun" stuff just comes off as incredibly hypocritical, given ABC's line-up of softporn masked as wholesome programming (Desperate Housewives-Don't Trust the B---- in Apt 23 etc...)
