As far as say A/Fuel or Alky Dragsters qualifying in TF if say 12 cars show up? Has that ever been allowed?

I think there are some differences in the chassis that make that a no-go Joe, but I'm not positive...

You'll know as soon as the NHRA is forced into comming up with one, like say in the middle of qualifying.:D

Your suggestion was to give headstarts, mine is run your current rules and see what happens! A 5.20 will qualify at plenty of TF shows this year I'm willing to bet...

At 5.20 at 1,000ft? I would imagine that an A-fuel car would go around 4.5 at 1,000ft.

And a A/Fuel car may qualify, but can it win on Sunday against a TF car? Only way for it to happen would be for a TF car to redlight, break or smoke the tires.

IHRA tried this for awhile and got away from it, I don't think you will see it happen in NHRA

>>>"Are the chassis specs the same for T/F and A/F ?"

Nope, and that may prove to be a stumbling block for A/F cars trying to compete in T/F.

Wheelbase in A/F CAN be 300", but can also be a little as 150". I don't think there are any 150" wheelbase A/F cars around, but the minimum for T/F is 280", and I am not at all sure that the A/F cars are that long, although they might be.

Does anyone here know how long most of those A/F cars are (wheelbase?)

There may be other considerations, but that one is the most obvious, to me.

Your correct, a 5.20 is forgetting TF runs 1,000' Even so, you think Bill Reichert wouldn't mind going out Rd 1 for $9,000?????

Why do people keep coming up with this idea , is it because of short fields or do people have some strange desire to see A/Fuelers in Top Fuel and if so then WHY! Without the blower it just aint the same .

William, Paul's right. IT's just to allow 16 cars the opportunity to stage on Sunday! If 16 TF Dragsters show up I doubt any A/Fueler's would run fast enough to qualify, even though it would funny as hell if one actually did!:D

Can you imagine how embarrassing it would be for any TF guy to get bumped out by an A/Fueler? He'd be the laughing stock of the race!

I don't care what anybody says.... I still want to see a top fuel dragster handicapped against say, a 15 second factory car!
Wouldn't that be interesting - to see say, Larry Dixon in the Sheik's rail.... sitting there after the burnout, both pumps on, with both bulbs lit... while....like, Mike Smith is roaring down through there at half track in his 2006 Buick LaSabre at a whopping 78 mph. After about 11 seconds or so have passed, LD twitches his feet, shakes the ground, and whizzes by Mike's Buick right at the 1/4 mile mark to take the win????? :D

Didn't they do something like that a while back as an exhibition?
