WFO MotorSport Kicks Off the 2007 Season with a 6.36 @ 221 mph

PHOENIX, AZ - The WFO MotorSport Chevrolet Cavalier of Steve Paulauskis, headed by crew chief Kelly Bluebaugh of WFO Racing and Machine, the World’s Fastest Organization, took the number one qualifying position in Pro Street with a 6.36 @ 221 mph in the West Coast Hot Rod Associations (WCHRA) Inaugural Snowbird Nationals at Speedworld Raceway Park in Phoenix, AZ on February 2-4, 2007.

In the final round, Team WFO met up with Randy Walker of the Walker Racing Group in his World’s Quickest Chevrolet El Camino for a no holds barred speed challenge, which had been driving each team to go faster all weekend long.

A friendly nitrous tuner’s competition started between the two teams during Saturday’s qualifying when Walker laid down a 6.48 @ 212 mph in the second round of qualifying. Bluebaugh of Team WFO responded to the tuning challenge sending Paulauskis and the WFO Motor Sport Cavalier down the track with a 6.442 @ 219.24 mph. Just when everyone thought the two competing Pro teams could not possibly get any faster, Walker pushed the World’s Quickest El Camino to a 6.41 @ 215 mph, and as the story follows, this is really how Team WFO ended up in the thirties.

For the final round, Bluebaugh rigged an untested fourth system of nitrous as a back up, however Walker took the win when Paulauskis caught his first competition red light due to a brake malfunction on the start. Undoubtedly, a light-hearted tuner’s competition between friends throughout the weekend resulted in what is anticipated to be an unprecedented new standard for West Coast Pro Street competition in 2007.

While Team WFO saw red in the final, they caught a big green light with racing enthusiasts Tom and Yvonne Nelson of Team Transit Mix, a ready mix concrete company out of Bakersfield, CA. The Nelsons have offered to sponsor the WFO MotorSport Chevrolet Cavalier in the WCHRA for the 2007 season. Formal announcements are expected to come early next week. Team WFO is also pleased to announce a decision to identify WCHRA as their home association for the 2007 season. The WCHRA is the West Coast’s newest streetcar association and only organization run for racers, by racers. The WCHRA is offering the west coast a substantial increase in payouts and is expected to gain speed quickly as the season progresses.

Paulauskis and Bluebaugh plan to upgrade the WFO MotorSport Cavalier with a full floater rear end and other slight modifications in order to meet expected challenges in the 2007 season before the next WCHRA race, which will be held in Bakersfield in April.

Meanwhile, Bluebaugh and the WFO Racing and Machine crew will debut a new Rick Jones-built Pro Street Monte Carlo for Ron Weems of Toy Factory Racing at the Pacific Street Car Association’s season opener held February 9-11 in Las Vegas. The following weekend, Bluebaugh will meet up with Charles Carpenter and his Worlds Fastest 55 Chevy in Montgomery, AL to kick off the ADRL season. The year has just begun and Paulauskis, Bluebaugh, and the WFO crew look forward to another fantastic racing season with new opportunities on the horizon.
