Ways to lose a single? (12 Viewers)

What ways can you lose a single?
You leave before the tree is activated?
You take the tree but cross the CL?
You take the tree but hit the wall?
You take the tree but break out (say S/C class though once you take the tree you should win)?
You take the tree and run 5.99 (Top Dragster)

Likewise, in the final round or any elimination round:
Your opponent leaves before the tree is activated and you cross the C/L, hit the wall or go red. I think this happened at the last race. Forget the class but it seems someone got reinstated. Did not seem like it was a "first or worst" scenario.

You cannot lose to a "Ghost"
If you stage the car under it's own power you will be the winner.
You can:
Leave early
Break out
Oil the track
Hit the wall
Cross the centerline
Even run over the tree

The exception is the 5.99 in TD or TS. That is an automatic DQ from the event.

A rule that should be changed is the COMP CIC. On a single if you run more than .51 under you still get dinged on index.

So as long as you don't do something totally stupid like roll in to stage and accidently roll through turning out both bulbs you should be good?

Last weekend in Maryland, TAFC Bob McCosh was lined up against Mick Steele. Steele rolled the beams prior to the tree being activated. McCosh brushed the wall around half track but still got the win because Steele did not take the tree. It was essentially a bye run when his opponent didn’t take the tree.

If a racer punched or otherwise abused an official or other racer before the round, wouldn't that be a dq?
Yes Michael it would. he also got 1 year probation and a 1 year attending the drivers commission meeting. Plus I won during that event. I think Mike English was the ring announcer at the time, at OCIR🤣
Larry Sutton---🤠

I've lost a single in a broken vending machine a few times.....

If a driver had a single pass, and wasn't the one item that Alan mentioned, but then failed a post-run inspection for some reason, would the win still count? Or would it be a vacated win?

Eric,

Typically speaking, scales and fuel check are waved on a single. Afterall, if you are #5 light, what difference would it make?

That was the run I was thinking about.

Didn't know that but it makes sense. Wasn't sure if inspections were done on something like as a matter of course.
