I think we're talking about two different cars, Mike. I'm referring to #5451 up there. THAT's based on a Chevrolet Monza, and the Olds version was called a Starfire, not a Firenza. Look at the rooflines of the car, and the picture I posted.

Was instead of it's... Your second sentence reads that the Firenza was Camaro based by using "it's still a Camaro".

d'kid

I can see where the confusion might come from,my bad. I was just making the comparison that the IROC Z was still a Camaro just like the Firenza was still a Starfire.

I understand the Monza and the Starfire were the same cars. What I'm saying is,they put a different nose on the Starfire with single headlights and some stripes and called in a Firenza. I'm sure there was some other differences but that's what I see different in the picture of the Firenza vs the Starfire.

This will help

Ah! I get it. The Firenza was a special "sports package" offered on the Starfire. Thanks for the clarification Mike.

WJ ran the first 180 MPH run in 1982. I'm not sure but I sure can find out.:D

Thanks, Mike. I thought it was later than '79, but wasn't sure. Plus, I was almost positive that he made that pass in a Starfire. That's why I got all of that talk going. Obviously, I'm confused. :D

Ran that 180 at Indy, didn't he?

speaking of wj, are he and kurt on schedule to run the 2011 tour. i havent heard any news regarding their status !

That's a Firenza? I thought it was a Starfire. Anyway, isn't this the car that was the first to top 180?

Sean D

I checked with corporate and this car was indeed the first to run 180 MPH and WJ also won his first NHRA P/S race with it,both happened in 1982. The 180 MPH run was @ Fremont and WJ won Englishtown that year.
