It really is a work of art. He may have taken a little artistic freedom on the hood scoop though..........:D

WJ has purchased the car he won his first NHRA P/S race with. I believe he won Englishtown in 79 with an Olds Firenza . I was by the shop a while back and saw this piece of history.

There's a good picture of the original car taken at night over at the NHRA site wallpaper section.

If you're logged in there, you can find it here.

I was at the 2008 Northstar Nats, and he'd just located and bought back that Firenza. I think I have a picture I took of it somewhere around here. I'll try and post it later tonight when I get home. I seem to remember him saying in an interview that he looks at the safety equipment it had at the time, and it scares him to think about driving as fast as he did in it with that equipment.

Nope, totally different car. Not a Camaro at all. Based on the Chevy Monza.

HUH? An IROC Z 28 is based on a Camaro body. I'm not saying the Firenza is a Camaro @ all. Here's a quote from Setting The Pace,a book about the first 100 years of Oldsmobile. "A sporty Firenza trim option debuted on Starfires for 1979,which also boasted a new front end with single headlights". The Starfires had dual headlights.
