WJ is exactly right when he calls the "Hemi" a more "twisted wedge". The trouble is with todays fuel injection the intake valve is so high that the intake runner
cannot be made long enough. With the pullout of MOPAR and Ford from Pro Stock racing leading to lack of parts, the GM type engine is all we are going to see
unfortunately. Now with parts castings drying up, there is no choice on which engine to use since NHRA banned aftermarket blocks. The one bright spot is
that Ford did build a similar engine: the 460 so they can call their engine the "Boss 500". LOL and before NHRA mandated that MOPAR use only the new "Hemi"
in the early 2000s, MOPAR was using an engine that was almost exactly like the GM engine in Pro Stock. In fact I remember one advertised in the classified ads
saying it came with either MOPAR mounts or Chevy mounts. This had to have been around 2000. At least it had to be just before the new "Hemi" engine was
mandated for Dodge Pro Stock. The Wayne County Dodges used this GM type engine. That's what made their use of nitrous so damn obvious. They were running
less RPM with the same engine, yet going faster. I think if the Dodges had the parts they would have to have a really creative intake manifold to be competitive,
many Roy Johnson did. I'm sure he tried a lot of them as did Greg and Jason.
