NASCAR announced Friday that Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 2 Dodge in the Nextel Cup Series, has been penalized 100 championship driver points, fined $100,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31, 2007, for violating Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing -- reckless driving; endangering a crew member on pit road) of the 2007 NASCAR rule book. I say he got off easy!

Kurt Busch/Paris Hilton what's the difference? No pain whatsoever financially and he'll undoubtedly make the chase so it's the equivalent of three days then released for celebrity status?
Miller has been with Penske off and on for a mighty long time going back to INDY cars back in the 80's at least. I don't see them leaving NASCAR any time soon. Would be nice to see them give the boot to Busch though.

It would be nice to see Miller or Penske issue a statement about their driver using a car as a weapon, but that ain't gonna happen. NASCAR caves into big money - again. At least we have a pissed off judge involved with Paris -

Pity that NASCAR doesn't use a judge such as that. Pretty much the same penalty that Little E got for an illegal bracket on his car that gave him no advantage. You would think on a safety issue, Busch would have gotten slammed. Like any other pro athlete, money means nothing to them. The only thing that really gets their attention is when they are not allowed to play, or drive in this case.
Barry, I do believe that I was told last year when Miller dropped Snake/Dixon that there was a new person in charge of marketing at Miller that is not a racing fan, so time for a new direction and so long sponsor.

"The Miller sponsorship has been extended through the 2010 season for the Penske Racing South team. “Kurt Busch is a winner, so we’re very excited to welcome him to the Miller family,” said Tom Long, Miller’s chief marketing officer. “We knew replacing a legend such as Rusty wouldn’t be easy, so we wanted to make sure we got a guy who knows how to win on the racetrack. He’s a perfect fit in the Miller Lite car because we both have a relentless drive to succeed and a real passion for what we do.”
In the process of finding this, I also saw several articles where Miller felt they weren't getting enough for their money with the NHRA and a couple that said said that Miller felt that BUD got preferential treatment with signage and the Bud Shootout.
