Sorry, this is a bit early. I've just been really looking forward to this. Between weather the last couple of years at VMP (of original contract length), COVID, and not having a race last year, it's been awhile since I went to the Gators race 3 years ago.

This is my "home track". The extended forecast for that weekend, if it holds up, is to be mostly sunny and in the 90's. For my area we're getting ready to get into a long stretch of 90's and more humidity for 7-10 straight that looks to extend to race weekend.

So....a question. I believe it was in 2018. The whole racing surface was redone in concrete. On an all concrete surface does this kind of heat affect the track as much as an asphalt track does? I wouldn't think it does, not as much anyway. But I'm not in the profession.

See ya'll there.

VMP has one of the best track surfaces on the tour. When track gets above 130 on a hot day it's pretty easy to over power it no matter how good. I would think mid 370's for TF low 390's for FC unless they get some clouds.

so i went on nhra.com and went to 'schedule', scrolled down to virginia to see how nhra has done the logo for 'play nhra' race sponsor.
there is a QR code in the logo. scan it and it takes me to nxbets.com, with 'play nhra' logo and under it reads, 'SPORTSBOOK OFFERS
SIGN UP & CLAIM BONUS NOW' ...... under that reads 'no offers available in your state, sign up to get notified when betting is available in your state'
below that are 6 logos where you can go if you have gambling problems ........ and Betway was sponsor of last year's charlotte 2 race.
i guess i just don't see the attraction. i know a lot of people must? have always enjoyed non-traditional sponsors in the sport. never imagined gambling sponsors.

On-line gaming is not legal in every state. But, if it is in your state, then NHRA is now a sport you can bet on.

Used DraftKings to place some bets for Bristol. Came away with a decent haul.

I'm pretty sure in VA it's not legal. Maryland yes. They have a MGM casino and such right outside of D.C.

Virginia has legal online sports gambling. DraftKings has odds for the race this weekend.
Welp, nothing like having you're backside handed to ya! At least I qualified that with "I'm pretty sure". LOL

I did forget VA has online. I think I had in my head physical gambling sites, such as casino. Clearly I don't do either.

if you're one of the independent FC's trying to qualify this weekend, i would think everyone will take a swing at the first session?
probably the coolest of the day? ...... smith X2, hull, haddock, campbell, richards, and maybe even cruz will all be looking for that one solid pass around 4.05 - 4.10.

I read Paul/John Smith pulled out of this race and will return at Norwalk.

If you go to the race this weekend, STAY HYDRATED! Its a warm one down here
I was just coming here to say the same thing.

It is scorching here today and will be the same or hotter over the weekend. I have a backpack cooler I WILL be utilizing LOL.

Hottest race I went to was 104 degrees. Yikes. Couldn’t imagine fire suit.

looks like the sportsman classes with have 2 hits friday morning and E1 and E2 friday afternoon. unless you are a sportsman semi finalist this weekend,
you will be done and on the way home by noon on saturday. weather permitting of course.

Can’t wait to get there tomorrow and feel the burn. Just got back from the bank, took out a second mortgage to cover the $86.25 for the base ticket plus convenience/order fees…🤬
