Doug Winters has unfinished business in Virginia (1 Viewer)

[coverattach=1]KERNERSVILLE, NC (APRIL 23, 2009) Doug Winters and the Winters Racing team will take their Chicago Pneumatic ’57 Chevy Nitro Extreme to Virginia Motorsports Park (VMP) this weekend to compete at the Super Chevy Show Nitro Coupes. Last year this event was rained out on Sunday eliminations. After qualifying number 2 in a strong field, Winters and team was let down with the rain. “We felt really good with our car last year,” stated Doug. “We had some great runs on Saturday during qualifying and thought we had a good shot of bringing home the win on Sunday. But I guess it wasn’t meant to be. This year the weather forecast looks great and we can’t wait to get back on the track to pick up where we left off.”

Doug has always had good success at VMP in the Nitro Coupes class, dating all the way back in 2001 when he won this event. “Before we got out of racing for a while, we always like coming here. The last two events here we got into the finals both time and took the win our last time. So we are defiantly looking forward to continue that success.”

This weekend also marks a great opportunity for the team to introduce their new sponsor, Chicago Pneumatic, to the VMP crowds. “Not only do we love to race on this track, but the crowds are great too. This is one of the largest attended Super Chevy Show events of the year. And to be able to market our partners like Chicago Pneumatics, NGK Spark Plugs, Mickey Thompson Tires, Optima Batteries, Computech Systems, and Safe Jacks, in front of some many people is a win win situation.” All of our partners have links into the automotive industry and almost everyone coming in the gate has a “project”, hot rod or drag car. So it’s very important that we represent them well.”

Nitro Coupes qualify on Saturday April 25th with eliminations set for Sunday April 26th. Fans can refer to the Super Chevy Show or VMP web sites for a detail schedule, The Official Website of the Super Chevy Show or VIRGINIA Motorsports Park.

As always, the team would like to thank Chicago Pneumatic, Mickey Thompson Tires, NGK Spark Plugs, Optima Batteries, Computech Systems and Safe Jacks for their continued support.
