Thanks Virgil (and Bobby). I've always enjoyed reading anything from/about Virgil. Thanks for your service.

We have two young soldiers (went to high school with my boys, now married serving thousands of miles apart from each other).... We try to take care of some of their needs. My wife and I build care packages and send them once a month ... some really cool stuff (black edition Hero 3 recently), some real basics (noodles, socks, certain hard to get candy/snacks), and always small toys for the local kids they deal with every day.

Thinking of the fear they have when they ship off, and the commitment they have to serve is so humbling. We try to make everyday a little bit of a Memorial Day, but it is hard to do.

Adopting soldiers with care packages is a very rewarding alternative, and reminds those folks that we care for them.

Anything received from "home", whether family or not, is greatly appreciated by all military personnel.

What you are doing Jeff will be a good memory for the rest of their lives.

Mr. Hartman I am currently working in Hanoi on an installation project for my company. On Sunday, as an attempt to pay homage to those of you who served here in Vietnam, I went to the Hao Lo Prison. Better known as The Hanoi Hilton.

One gentleman that I met there like you was a former Army Vet who also served here in the south. As I said to him I say to you. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. If not for men like you, I could not live a free life that I do.

Although we rarely see things the same way (which usually means we think alike but see things from a different point of view), never mistake that for disrespect.

I was born at the right time where I narrowly missed the Vietnam war, but I can't imagine plucking a 19 year old out of his home and tossing him in to a senseless war like that.

I hope you keep doing that forever. My stepson loves it when people do this, it really makes his day to know that he is appreciated by more than his family.
