Appreciate Jason Galvin being very clear that the Doug cleanup was going to be a long one. I bailed since I had to meet my wife only to find I didn't miss anything. Although I miss Alan in the booth, I'm warming up to Galvin. Yesterday he mentioned two step in pro stock which I was not aware of. (Many people on this board are way more knowledgeable than me.) He mentioned if the rev limiter malfunctions even Hagan couldn't push the pedal down! I read Alan's write up on this and he indicated 'Godzilla couldn't push the pedal down!

Just like the blower and engine ballistic blanket's a rear end blanket is in the work's for future issues like this.

Wonder if billet like Chrisman would be better over cast like Strange? At least I think Strange has a cast body

I personally do think it makes a difference. A top fuel car makes so much horse power, they can brake anything. I have LOL. they have a billet blower.heads and blocks and the end up in pieces alot.

Not sure a blanket can keep a spinning ring gear in but it's bound to help catch oil. Have you ever seen one explode that bad?

No Ken I have not seen one that bad before. but I have seen many rotating parts come out much worse. like many top fuel parts they are like Dixie cups use them once and throw them away.

Lohnes said something about new rear end parts, guess they must be junk,go back to the old
Crazy stuff. Doug sent part of the spool with a section of ring gear still attached straight out the top of the rear end. I think that blew the cover off, then more pieces followed.

Ken it may stop a spinning ring gear, I say MAY, but it has stopped rotating crank shafts, and other large spinning parts a bunch of times.

PS: maybe they will put TETHERS on the ring gears.LOL😛

What kind of product do they use for clean ups like this? Do they have different kinds for different messes? Like one for oil, one for fuel, one for rear end fluid, or just one for all?

i realize using the other 2 lanes is not realistic as they are not prepped, but it's kind of funny a 2 lane event can be halted for a long time,
when there are 2 unused lanes right there.
Very early on in the strips history, talk went around that the other set of lanes could be used to continue racing while other set was being cleaned up, if memory not to far gone I think the danger of trying to clean one set while running other was brought up, I think that is one of the reasons they did not go ahead with that plan, this was talked about before track was four lanes, rough grading for other lanes was done but no solid plans then

It wouldn't matter, no one would want to be placed in those lanes at that point of the race weekend with minimum runs on them.

Kind of nice to get to watch a race on my day off, in fact, If I did not get off work at 7am this morning I would have seriously thought about driving up. Its about five hours door to door to LVMS. Not only the finish of the race but the testing that will happen today afterwards. Play some cards and make a weekend of it.

I was wondering if it is feasible to have a ballistic diaper under the rear end of the car. It seems like all of the major oildowns over the last few years have been because of rear-end failures and a few of those times, it seemed to really wreck the lane for at least a day.

does anyone know anything about the super stock final? jimmy hidalgo jr. vs. brett speer. i don't see it posted anywhere?

Some of the finals were moved to Pomona because of drivers having schedule conflicts. Don't know if that was the case here, but I'd venture a guess if it wasn't run this morning that is why.

From NHRA.com

Three classes — Top Alcohol Funny Car, Super Stock, and Super Comp — will not be completed here today due to scheduling conflicts for some of the finalists. Top Alcohol Funny Car, with Sean Bellemeur taking on Maddi Gordon, will take place during Q3 at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals. Super Stock (Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. vs. Brett Speer) and Super Comp (Toby Payne vs. Michael Handras) will finish here next weekend at the Lucas Oil Series event.

thanks. i see the article posted now.
f/sa heads up stock final. joe sorenson should have points lead.
just heard from good source the SS final will run friday ...... i would tend to guess the same for the super comp final.
