Alan mentioned that Luigi would be back in the car. Some health issue.I don't think National Machine Repair is an outside sponsor, so to speak, since isn't that Luigi Novelli's Company? If so, he can write off some of the racing expense as advertising, but still no deep pockets there as far as I know.
Matt Hagan has run 3.799.Austin Prock slows just a bit in the last 300 feet from his usual 335+ to 328 and still ran 3.81. Only 2 runs in history have been quicker, both by Hight, 3,80 and 3.79. That 'old heap' is some of that stout.
It's been happening all year. Two rear end failures in T/F today? Billy Capco and Doug Kalitta? That never happens, as those things have always been pretty bulletproof in the past.
Strange Engineering or Chrisman rear ends? Or both? It's been happening all year.
With what seems like over an hour clean-up for each of these failures today, I would think I would have noted this before. There must be some serious goo in those things to be such a problem cleaning it up. They are taking much longer to clean up than the average oil-down. This is not good at all for TV or for the fans in attendance. It's been happening all year.
yes. It might be moved to Pomona or tomorrow. Temp drops quick there after darkAre they still down for a clean up on isle 4?
ChrisI’m a bit lazy, so does anyone know of the top of their head how Billy’s lane did after the cleanup? Wondering how Kalitta’s gear oil cleanup will affect the FC semis.
Two reasons - first, I believe they use synthetic lube; it's a bitch to clean up compared to dino oil and second, when that rear end grenaded today it looked like the oil spewed everywhere. Both lanes were being addressed from about 400 feet to the stripe. It may have had some help from the engine; I imagine it zinged way up there before Doug could get off the throttle. With what seems like over an hour clean-up for each of these failures today, I would think I would have noted this before. Roughly 2 gallons or more depending on the team. How much oil could be in a rear end, compared to an engine? It's hard to believe there could be enough to spill on 600 feet of track.
