Anyone else notice that the nitro speeds are down for their ET at Norwalk. Are they hitting the chutes earlier at the request of NHRA as a result of the SK accident?

I would say they have the tune up down some mainly cause the track is short. I feel it made for a boring qualifying session. Did anyone notice there is no net at the end of sand trap.

Norwalk has fresh ashpault from about 800 feet on. So until there is a nice amount of rubber the fuel cars will spin the tires and put cylinders out. If some guys are cutting it short I do not know but I believe the majority of the low speeds are the result of the new ashpault. You will see, as more runs are made the better it will be. Seems to me almost every funny car made it down both times. That sure isn't boring for me.

I sure enjoyed the sessions.

It seemed like after the rain, the track was much better and the times and ET's reflected that.

I thought the first session of F/C was great. All the cars made A to B passes, ET's and speeds were closely bunched together, and it was a clean session. Not a damn thing wrong with that!

The real question is why throw everything at it in qualifying in the nitro classes, when all you have to do is get down the track and get pass the scales. Yesterday was unique in that in the 2nd session there were only 16 nitro cars in both fields. even without the DQ's in flopper, by a couple of pairs in, the field would have been set. second session was a test and tune. oh well, it is what it is.

I almost enjoyed yesterday, and the ESPN2 show was well done.

Watched the telecast this AM and thought back to our conversation yesterday, Karl. It was nice seeing side by side 5.08's and 5.06's out of the Floppers, even if it was just qualifying.

Don't buy that. 1st round. Most TF's around 300. Except Tony Shu's 318. He takes no prisoners:cool:
