Bobby's helmet in the KB thread had me thinking.

What piece of memorabilia do you cherish that you've had drivers sign over the years? For me, it's a 50th anniversary banner. We bought it in 2001, and when we opened the package my dad said, "you know what, let's get a couple of drivers to sign it...."

Here's a pic:

More than a couple after 7 years!

My personal items are my three years of Topps AHRA cards from the 70's (that I had since then- I have the cavities from chewing the gum to prove it..:) )

The coolest thing that is autographed is the green Graco car stroller for the kid when he was a little pit rat 10 years ago. After I flamed and striped it, it was like a magnet for drivers and personalities to ink their John Hancock on... The most prized are Snake's and Steve Evans

Larry Nance gave me a pop chute straight off his car in 200 when i was 14 and it now has about 20-30 signatures on it...thats all it really had room for

I had a full set of them-donated them to Big's museum.

I have a number of Milestone 1/16 Drag cars with cases by Bob Campagna of DSR. Most are signed - Scelzi, Bazemore, Sarge, Shoe, Mike Ashley, Doug and Connie Kalitta, Gilby's Jungle Jim Car, Millican and both Bernsteins. Have three that need autographs - Bernsten's Buick Batmobile, Tom' 57 FC and Garlit's 300 mph car that (I think) was actually Clapshaw's car that Big borrowed.
I also have nine James Ibisuki lithos that were signed by drivers when they were produced. I got to talk to Shoe about James' art when he signed the "Manufacturers Championship" litho for me. The original hangs in his office at Schumacher Electric. The Holy Grail of my collection would be a personalized signature on "Big's First Indy" - I was there and was racing at the event.
Every one of these has a great memory attached - you can't walk up to a driver in any other racing series and get the responses I have had! -

A Piston & Rod with a clock in it...I think they now sell for $150 + at NHRA stores.... Al Hofmann (RIP) signed it and gave it to me... back when he was driving the BDS car with Helen..

I wouldn't sell or trade that for anything....

My most cherished piece of drag racing memorabilia is a handout signed by Darrell Russell.

Drag cards from the early seventies, Drag Nationals, Drag Champs & Race USA were issued by Fleer (USA). Fleer (Canada) also issued a set of Drag Champs cards, which unlike the American version, were numbered.

My favorite one that I have is a helmet with Kenny Bernstien's signature on it.

Relax, it's just a joke.

A couple of years before he stopped driving, I had to visit Eddie Hill's house once on business, which had absolutely nothing to do with racing whatsoever. I had him sign a quart of Pennzoil. He also gave me a fried piston and a poster. Those were pretty special to me - because they weren't signed in the pits or at an autograph session somewhere - he signed them in his kitchen!

I have a late fifties copy of Life magazine with a drag racing scene from Texas on the cover autographed by Eddie and Ercie Hill. I am sick I didnt get Wally Parks to autograph it while he was alive. I also have a real nice letter Ercie sent me on a Eddie Hill's Fun Cycles letterhead. Also, when we did a lot of the Super Chevy Shows in the early 90's, I became friends with Jeff Brozovich. He blew the front end off his car at the Motorplex at nearly 200 MPH and autographed a piece of the front of it for me with the speed and ET. Lastly, I have a Clay Millican blower belt hanging in the shop that he autographed for me one day at his shop in Tenn. A customer of mine had his shop down the road from Clay and had done some paint work for them. I had met him at Danny Nelson's Racecraft shop years ago when he was a teenager and starting to run Super Comp. You could not ask for a nicer guy--he and Lance Larson gave me and my friends the grand tour and visited with us for over an hour. The sport needs more good guys like Clay.

i have an old fuel breather mask which belonged to uk top fuel legend, denis priddle.
i took this to nhra event s from 1992 - 2000 and a couple of chrr`s.
its covered in autographs and its also a good talking point with the drivers

many signatures across handout color-cards from my youth........
sad thing is i can't find them anymore.

as an adult - one signature on a BIR baseball cap.....frank bradley.

I was never a huge collector of autographs but I do have a couple things I consider special for the person as well as the memory that goes with it.

1) Bill Jenkins' "The Chevrolet Racing Engine" book that he signed for me on the inside cover in the year he was helping Gordie Rivera. I considered it "the bible" for a long time. And he actually gave his patented "hmmff" and cracked a smile when he saw it's condition realizing I must have read it 20 times over by that time.

2) A WJ hero card that Warren signed for me at the SEMA show the year he won his first championship. It was the first day of the show and he was sitting at the booth all by himself and nobody was even acknowledging him. At the time I was a young aero engineer just out of college trying to get into the racing industry and I had actually sent him a resume about 6 months prior. I went up and congratulated him and when he looked at my name badge he immediately said "Hey Scott, thanks for the resume!" I just stood there with my mouth open. He continued to talk with me for about 20 minutes about some "aero tricks" I was asking about his car (sitting right next to him). And he also told me that although he couldn't use me, he thought I should keep trying which really meant a lot at the time. I know others have had a different experience with WJ, but mine was a good one and I've been a fan ever since.

The last year Joe Amato and Darrell Russell were at Keystone Nationals/Maple Grove, Keystone Automotive had a autograph/picture session. Had both of them sign my event T-shirt which is still in the bag. Who would have thought that would be the last time I would see them together.:(

Only have (2) Things autographed...

1) Gary Orsmby's Hero card Signed...."To Tim... Gary Orsmby"

2) My NHRA HAT.... Which I wear at the track... only (1) Autograph... Next to my mile high nationals 2007 pin, "FAST JACK BECKMAN"

I'd like to get two more autographs soon.... ON MY COMPETITION LICENSE UPGRADE FORM...(FAST JACK and ANTRON BROWN) that would be Cool!!
