Anyone else notice that the "Pro" class with the most entries at Charlotte is Pro Mod? 27 entries, Pro Stock a close second at 26...

I've only seen Pro Mod live one time..at the 2005 US Nationals...I wish they'd bring them to Brainerd...they remind me of the old funny car days..

Charlotte, NC is ProMod country! The Carolina's is where ProMod has its roots and got started so there are probably more teams in that area than any other part of the country. Gainesville (GatorNationals this year) had 28 Pro Mods and they only got 2 qualifying sessions as I recall which was a real bummer. I think it rained on Friday and their sessions got cut out. When that many cars showed up, it was a real bummer that some never got a good chance at getting in the show.

And there were over 40 entries in the nitrous category alone at ADRL Dragstock at the "Rock" last weekend for the Fastest Field in Pro Nitrous History.

That's the part of the country most ProMods are from. :)

You'd think the powers that be in Glendora would be a little more aware of the interest and start increasing the number of events that have Pro Mod.

Did you ever think that it is "PRO" that doesn't want another Pro category? The Pro Stock cars never wanted Pro Stock truck. I'm sure the AA/FC guys don't want Pro Mod either

The funny car guys I know, like them, and I know that I like them. I would love to see pro-mod get a full schedule. But that means nothing to nhra. What they look at is, not how many cars show up to race a class, but how many fans fill the seats to watch that class. So if you want that class to survive, then you had better plant your butts in the seats when they are running. Super gas and super comp are the two largest classes on the tour, and yet they are treated like second class citizens. And that is because the seats are empty when they run.

I second the Brainerd wish. Last time I saw them was when Norwalk was IHRA back in 98. I LOVED that class. Its basically alcohol FC (another one of my fav classes) packed into a smaller car. Louder and faster then Pro Stock... for the millionth time, phase out PSB phase in PM full time!

I'll second that :D

Isn't the problem with the PSB v PM argument, that PSB tends to carry its own incremental advertising base and crowd?

PS is my favorite class with Funny Car probably second, but PSB ranks ahead of TF for me.

Pro Mod would be ahead of all but PS for me, if they ran a championship season.

They shouldn't be treated like second class citizens, of course, but there's a mass exodus because these two classes, SuperComp in particular, are boring to the average fan. Two by two, dozens of big block Chevy, throttle-stopped dragsters run, every run the same, every car the same, every ET the same. WE know it's much more than that, but fans judge on what they see and head for the pits.

If NHRA Pro Mod doesn't survive, it won't be because the fans are bored.

I agree one hundred percent. Pro- mod is one of the most exciting classes out there. I for one hope it keeps growiing until it is a full time championship class.

I have respect for the super class racers, as they are tough categories to win in. However, they really are participant classes, as they have NO appeal from a spectator's point of view, for the reasons mentioned above. If it was up to me, I would replace the .90 classes at Nat'l events with TD and TS. JMO.

I've said before, and I'll say it again. I'm all in favor of getting rid of the snowmobiles at the Northstar Nats, and bringing in the Pro Mods.

Do it!!!
