Another legend passes.

Someone needs to reproduce the (I think) Hot Rod Magazine story of Roger and James and the lead (as I recall) photo of their "shop " in Bakersfield.

Everybody thought it was a joke.

And this was already in the (early) day of corporate sponsors and the beginning of 18 wheelers, etc. TERRORS might have been an understatement.

Talk about racers getting more bang for their buck outa their pocket books! The Terrors did it in spades!

Yes. And they were. The first Indy I attended was that '67 race with WCM against Big in the final. I was fortunate enough to see them run at least one time a year until they "retired". Godspeed, James.

My all time favorite Top Fuel team. When Top Fuel ran at the division events, I'd always watch them run when my dad was running comp eliminator in division 7. Cool cars and even cooler racers.....They both have made their final trip over the 'Vine....Godspeed.

 

[The Little Lizard]

The Warren and Coburn "Rain for Rent" Top Fuel Dragster team was tough-no doubt. I'm sure James and Roger along with my mentors Jim "The Lizard" Herbert, and Gary Ormsby are at peace and keeping an eye on us. The "Rain for Rent" Top Fueler was always a tough match up, Jim and Gary respected Jim and Roger. It was a pleasure to see them on the other side of the ladder, if the event shook out that way. It's been shocking to me, and an unfortunate part of life lately to hear of another passing of one of our team’s competitors from back in the day.
