Thacker Ready for St. Louis

Marty Thacker and the Rapid Transit Race Team will make the relatively short trip from their shop in Robinson, Illinois to St. Louis for the Division 3 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event this weekend. Last year, the Team sponsored by Knoll Gas – Torco Racing Fuels earned a runner-up finish at this event and they are hoping to take it one step further this time.

“We've not had the success that we would like in the first half of the season. You can call it bad luck or whatever, but we need to take care of business for the rest of the year. The A-Fuel cars still have a performance advantage, but we are much closer than we have been in a while. Now we have to run on the edge and maintain the car at 110%, so parts failure doesn't get in our way. The guys know it's going to be rough, but we're determined to get this car back in the winner’s circle,” said Thacker.

This weekend marks the beginning of the divisional swing for the Team. Over the next three weeks they will have participate in three different Division 3 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events. In the past three races Thacker has been to 2 final rounds and the Team is hoping they will be able to carry that momentum into this crucial part of their season.

Qualifying begins on Friday evening at 6 PM. It will continue on Saturday evening with runs at 6 PM and 9 PM. First round of eliminations will be held at 1 PM on Sunday afternoon. For up to date coverage of the event please log onto Drag Race Central | Presented by Summitracing.com 1-800-230-3030.
