Will be attending Ennis on Saturday. Any advice on time should arrive to avoid the traffic? And any good parking areas?

Thanks

The traffic isn't a problem except when the event ends, then it's a logjam deluxe. Best to kill some time in the pits for an hour or so until it clears.

I always park in the designated area to the WEST of the track. Easy in, easy out. Cost $10, and it's about a 5 minute walk to the main gate, which is on the south side. Works great, unless there's been recent heavy rain (that area is not paved) - which there hasn't been.

What Carl said. Traffic and parking aren't an issue until leaving.

Since we both live on the same side of Ennis, I'll give you my enroute preferences.

1. There is a pretty consistent speed trap in the mile marker 225 to 227 area. Two cops working together, often one shooting laser from behind (fun fact, the Dallas area is one of a relatively few areas in the US where laser is regularly shot from behind).

2. I can't remember if it is exit 247 or 249, but do not take the 287 flyover exit, this has to be one of the worst sections of highway in the US. Now, thankfully they are repaving it ... and well traffic is often times a @#$%^. Instead go on up to the Kaufman/Italy Highway 34 exit (I think it is 251B) it is the main exit through Ennis. Take a left at the light and you will go through town and pop out on 287 about 2 or 3 miles short of the track ... bypassing a bunch of terrible roads and generally take the same or less time than taking 287's flyover from I-45. Look on a map and you'll see what I mean.

There's my 2 cents. Most of the time I am doing this in a 90 ft long race rig, so I may be overly sensitive to rough/bumpy roads. But I'll never forget the time when I saw a toyota sedan with bad shocks have its rear tires regularly catch air while driving at the speed limit or slower on that first 7 or 8 miles of 287 leaving I-45.
