I talked to McKailen in Vegas on Sunday morning. One of the body latches came loose prior the car prior to staging. They removed it so it would not fall off during the run causing a hazard. An NHRA official saw in the shutdown that one was missing causing the run to be DQ’d.

Ticky Tacky infraction. Guarantee they wouldn't have tossed Capps or Hagan if that had been Q4 and they weren't in the show yet. They seem to go out of their way to look for a reason to toss one of the lower funded teams. Almost like they don't want them there. Kinda like our last division director we had.

Really bad deal all around. This article on Competition Plus tells Terry's side. And is exactly what he told me Sunday morning. Very similar to the Densham story last year. If an NHRA official sees how you have handled a problemin the lanes or on the line and they agree to send you to spend the $$$ to make the run, it isn't right to then DQ the run and also cost the team the qualifying money. Terry's point about how they treat the smaller teams is extremely valid. Using the logic used here, they should have DQ'ed Schumacher earlier this year when he ran with the safety systems entirely non-functional. Everyone knew they were bypassed, yet NHRA not only let him run, but allowed him to keep the round win then assessed him a fine. Every time I lose my mind and think about doing a big show car (which I do occasionally, just ask my team), I just need to remind myself how it works when you are a little guy in the big show.

what if there were only 16 cars and everyone only qualified for position. would a non-full-tour car be asked to sit on sidelines
on sunday for an infraction such as this? where officials let them make the pass? and then only eliminate 15 cars on sunday with a bye? or do calmer heads prevail for the sake
of the show and run a full field on sunday?

He should know the rule book perfectly, inside and out, upside down and sideways. Every page memorized. What if Terry's car had had a major explosion and the whole body came off and people got hurt, whose fault would that have been if the accident had been caused because there was only 1 front hold down and Terry or others hurt? Of course not NHRA.

Has the NHRA gone back to a full time starter or not. I don't remember

No, I have seen different starters at numerous races. They should go back to a permanent starter. It works well because the starter gets a relationship with each team and has more knowledge of the cars/drivers.
