Hard to believe, with all the great racing that occurred this weekend, that this topic is still the hot one.
This one could beat out the NASCAR thread that has topped the charts for the past few weeks on here.:)

The problems with his tantrums are: A) They happen on national TV in front of hundreds of thousands of viewers, and B) They happen over and over again. Slow learning curve for him I guess........

He'd have to have someone other than his family explain how things work in the real world. In the real world, people have to earn money with an actual job starting from a young age. My kid's only slightly younger than Tanner and he works two jobs to keep a 17 year old car running. In the real world, you have to behave yourself at work and treat others with respect, whether you agree with them or not. In the real world, you can't get everything you want, and in lots of cases you can't even get what you really need. So until tanner meets someone who knows and has experienced these things, he'll continue to act as he does now. His family has had money for too long to know any different. Sorry if that offends anyone, but it's how I see it.

Sounds like you think Tanner is suffering from "affluenza." Could be that he knows that he's not exactly a "hired gun" and cannot be fired.

I can only image what Jack Beckman and TJ think whenever this stuff happens. Those are two guys that understand without Tanner's Great-Grandfathers efforts in NM oil many years ago, their talent might not be currently utilized today. O'well, smoke 'em if you got 'em!

Absolutely. And with regards to Beckman, I was at Indy when he was licensing and witnessed him not being treated all that well on a couple of different occasions in the lanes and he couldn't have handled it more gracefully. The dude was a class act, both then and now.

Yes he is, and I hope nobody thinks I'm not a fan of the Gray family's contribution to the sport I love. Terry Chandler was one of the people I looked at as how I hoped I'd act if I were ever fortunate enough to be in a position to help others. Jack Beckman is probably one of the nicest drivers I've ever met, and is truly deserving of everything he's achieved. The other driver I've been lucky enough to meet that was also rich and still managed to be a good person was none other than Tony Schumacher. Funny think is, I really didn't WANT to like him, but after scoring some tickets to sit in the DSR VIP area and seeing how genuinely nice he was to all the fans and everyone who wanted a piece of his time, I couldn't help but like him. Tanner could take lessons...

For all the people bashing Tanner please raise your hand if you didn't do anything stupid or immature when you were a teenager. I'll wait. :)
I did LOTS of stupid and immature things. However, I was not a professional race car driver competing on a national stage at the time I was doing those things.

I drove from Topeka all the way back to the shop in southern Ca, took 2 days off and then drove to Chicago and have been here for 2 days and this thread is still going on about something that was really nothing...it must be a really slow time here at the old nitromater.:) I bet that little episode is the last thing on Erica's mind right now.

I like people who piss people off! I don't want Tanner to be different just because some people who aren't in his shoes are critical of his actions. Let him be who he is and one day he will mature, it's called growing up, we all go through it.

Mr Gray complains about the extent of a thread, while extending the thread .... irony at its best.

So Tanner is the Kyle Busch of pro stock ... no big deal. Like Kyle, he'll likely mellow some with age, but right now you just get to watch him growing up and learning to face the challenges of life. His actions alone are not going to start or stop the world. To each his own.

Jeff, just to clear up your confusion... when I'm complaining about something I don't use a smiley face I use a rolleyes...I find this thread pretty amusing hence the smiley faces and look forward to checking in on it's progress on the way to Virginia. But, just because I find something amusing doesn't mean I'm not a little surprised that it has lasted as long as it has. Hopefully you and I are on the same page now.:D
