Anybody catch "Dave Despain on Assignment" today? It was about the building of, and the first race at the Alabama track. All the the major drivers of the day stayed away in a protest over what they saw as a major issue with tires.

It was a pretty good show, and brought back of lot of memories. The race rigs they showed of the time (1969) looked pretty rudimentary.

Tires were an issue back then, are still an issue now.
