He's no longer Archie's son.
He's the most valuable player in the Super Bowl.
That's a monkey off his back.
I don't doubt that he will break a large number of records beyond those he's already done.

Chicago still has the best defense in the league and maybe the best I've seen in a decade.

Some things I noticed about the game:

1. When a team scores very early on (the kickoff return), that team for some reason comes up short by the end of the game. There are many examples during the 2006 season.

2. Peyton has proved that not only is he a great quarterback, he can finally win the big games.

3. Rex Grossman's playing was indeed gross (pun intended). He proved that he is the inexperienced, inconsistent QB that he is. His nickname is "Interception-asaurus Rex" and he lived up to it today.

4. Godaddy needs to stop being wimps and air the full commercials!

Grossman didn't lose the game for the Bears, Lovie Smith did for starting him.

this morning on espn, they had fantastic commentary on tony dungee,
and i agree completely; couldn't happen to a more honorable man.

I hear that! That's one of the reasons why I risked certain death and long term ridicule by rooting for the Colts when my inlaws are Bears Fans.

Too bad they forget how to tackle. Addai and Rhodes sure had their way running the ball.

I agree Chris. It seemed like every play they were 7, 8 yds or better. Too bad it wasnt just one of them or they should have been voted MVP but its hard to give it to them when there are 2. Plus Peyton deserves it b/c he is the one who makes all the play calls and I have a big fan of his. The guy is awesome and seems like a really good down to earth person.

I think Rex is getting a bad rap here.

Manning went 3-13 his first year. How many years..and how much sh!t did Elway get before he was successful?

I wished it hadn't been raining..because I believe that was a factor..Rex can throw an excellent long ball..(small hands + rain = wounded pigeons)

No excuses..he went 15-4 this year right?

I'm happy for Peyton and the Colts..class acts all the way around.

Rex is getting a bad rap all the way around. Poor guy. A young QB making it to the Super Bowl and all I've heard is bashing of him. Particularly in the Chicago Trib.

I've always been told you're supposed to dance with the one who brought you. Rex did have a less than stellar day however, it's impossible to pass this loss off on him. I think rather than point fingers at the problems, some credit should be given to outstanding play. One place in particular is an awesome Colt's offensive line making holes a Pop Warner halfback could've run through.

Rex has brought some of this on himself. When you have a quarterback rating of 1.0 in a regular season game, then a couple weeks later you admit to the press that you didn't prepare for a game since it was "meaningless", you should be prepared to catch some flack. Rex isn't near as bad as he has been made out to be. Hopefully, being young, he will recover from this. One reporter on ESPN today suggested that the Bears get Jeff Garcia from Philly. You have to give props to the Colts defense as well. They gave up only about half the yardage per game in the playoffs as they did during the regular season and forced some of the mistakes by stopping the Bears running game that was supposed to get 150-200 yards in this game.

Is that why Lovie Smith started Rex in last years play offs? Rex goes down in the first preseason game and is out for the season. Bears make the play offs, Smith start Grossman. Grossman had not played a single game all season and he starts in the first round of the play offs, and loses. I am not blaming Rex here, read my first post, I am blaming Lovie Smith.

If my Great Uncle (George Halas) were still alive and coaching the Bears, Grossman would not be playing.

That is a huge statement. Since I didn't have a dog in the fight, I would like to think I am an unbiased observer in all matters XLI. Between Grossman, Griese and Orton, I am going to go with Grossman every day of the week. Grossman is the only QB of the three that we haven't seen the best out of yet. Griese and Orton have peaked, they are known quantities, Rex still has upside. With that being said, he went 15-4 this year and like Doc said, if it ain't broke don't fix it, dance with the one that brung ya, insert other clever euphemism here.
