Stott looks for rounds in Grand Bend
COLUMBUS, N.C. (July 18, 2007) - With the Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam drag racing season kicking into hot summer action, Quain Stott and his LeeBoy Equipment, Torco Race Fuels powered Corvette, is looking for round wins. Grand Bend, Ontario is the home of the MOPAR Canadian Nationals contested July 20-21 and Stott has had success at this event in the past.
On the road to his 2006 Pro Modified World Championship, Stott made a semi-final appearance and qualified his team car driven by Tommy D'Aprile to the number one spot at the track near the shores of Lake Huron. In fact, Grand Bend has been a track that Stott has enjoyed, posting one win, one runner-up and two semi-final appearances in the past six seasons.
"Grand Bend has always been kind of a special place for us," Quain said. "It was the first race we ever ran in Canada and for whatever reason we've ran well here over the years."
Stott will need to continue his success to keep pace. Stott, currently sixth in points, is within striking distance of the top contenders, and knows he must keep pace to defend his championship. "Right now you look at the top of the pack and you see Cannon and Stoken," says Stott. "They're both running some big numbers race in and race out and if the rest of us aren't careful these guys can run off and we'll be wondering where they went."
Ed Hoover, Danny Rowe, Kenny Lang and Quain Stott round out the top six in the quest for the Torco Comp Plus Pro Modified World Championship.
Stott and LeeBoy Equipment will also be hosting several guests as part of the weekend's festivities.
