Tommy D'Aprile Awarded Pro Rookie of the Year

GREENSBORO, N.C - The International Hot Rod Association held its annual awards banquet, honoring the champions of the 2006 racing season last Saturday night. Tommy D'Aprile, Quain Stott Drag Racing team driver of the Evan Knoll sponsored "Support Our Troops" / LeeBoy Equipment Corvette, was awarded the 2006 Pro Rookie Driver of the Year.

"I'm just so thankful for the opportunity," D'Aprile said. "I couldn't have done this without Quain and Evan, my wife Susan's support and the dedication of my entire team." D'Aprile also accepted his trophy for his 5th place finish. Only 76 points separated him from the championship and just 45 points from a second place finish.

Team owner and driver, Quain Stott was also present and honored for his first Pro Modified championship. Stott and Crew Chief Brandon Howard were also nominated for Crew Chief of the Year.

"It was a great season," Stott said. "Having two cars finish in the top five was something we couldn't have even imagined, much less actually accomplishing it."
