Quain Stott Parks New Ride - Stays With 'Old Faithful'

(August 23, 2006) Columbus, NC - In ice hockey, players don't shave during the playoffs. In baseball, if a pitcher is throwing a no hitter, his teammates won't mention it for fear of bad luck. A manager will never "pull" his pitcher if he's working a shutout and none of his teammates will speak to him during the game. Athletes are superstitious.

Drag racers are a superstitious bunch also. Some teams won't allow peanuts anywhere near their pits. Most drivers have rituals about the order in which they put on their safety gear. The Quain Stott Drag Racing team and their LeeBoy Corvette, powered by Torco Race Fuels has a few of their own superstitions.

Stott has been working on a brand new 1963 LeeBoy Corvette. He expected to debut the new ride at Norwalk Raceway Park during the Skull Shine World Nationals. Instead, he'll stick with his flat black painted model that so many have grown to love.

"We're sitting third in points, just two points from second, with this old car," explained Stott. "It's really hard to think about parking this ride in the middle of this season." Stott still expects to debut the new car this season after more testing. "We really haven't had the time to test the new car completely. We'll have it out soon enough."

Stott spent extra time between races testing his LeeBoy car and the "Support Our Troops" car driven by Tommy D'Aprile in preparation for the Norwalk event. "This is always a big event," added Stott. "It wouldn't surprise me to see 50 Pro Mod cars out here."

Stott has found the final round two of the last three season, but has been unable to bring home the Iron Man. "As usual, we'll have a lot of support from LeeBoy and all of their customers at this race," Stott added. "LeeBoy always does a great job with that. It's that extra motivation we need, knowing that they're all here just to see us win. Hopefully we can."

Quain Stott Drag Racing partners with high performance companies like, LeeBoy Equipment, Torco Race Fuels, Mercer Transportation, Richmond Gear, Mickey Thompson Tires, NGK Spark Plugs, Auto Meter, Stroud Safety, Santhuff Shocks, Fulton Race Engines and Spartan Crank Shafts.
