STEVENS READY TO POUNCE WITH FUNNY CAR IN PERTH

Champion Drag Racer Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens is heading to Western Australia ready to pounce with his Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car in the 3rd round of the Australian Top Alcohol Championship at the Perth Motorplex next weekend (16th-17th November).

Stevens was the fastest driver in the last round of series in Queensland and is focused on transferring this into an outright result with his first win for the season and in the West in his Funny Car.

At last years inaugural Top Alcohol event in Perth, he Top Qualified in a stunning display that saw him run off four consecutive 5.6 second passes straight off the trailer before striking traction problems in his semi-final.

This year Stevens is again entering the event with high expectations and will be concentrating all of his efforts on putting his 3500 horsepower Ford Mustang into the winners circle.

“In the last 18 months we have really been able to show the potential of the Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car and have consistently run top times,” Stevens said.

“However you always have to be right on your game, the Top Alcohol bracket is the most competitive it has been in years with the Funny Car drivers really taking it up to the Dragsters that have dominated for so long.”

“Last year when we came over to the West we really had a handle on the track and we are expecting similar conditions this trip, so hopefully we will be able to dial the car’s setup straight in and really push the competition.”

“I think we will see some really good performances right across the bracket though, especially from some of the local drivers that race here regularly.”

Also competing for the Brett Stevens Racing team at the event will be the S&S Powered Pro Stock Buell in what will be the first ever Championship round for the professional Pro Stock Bike bracket in Perth.

The S&S Buell is the reigning Australian Championship winning bike and this season is being piloted by Drag Racing motorcycle ace Pete Cochrane.

After encountering some rare mechanical issues in the first round of the series Cochrane then went on to Top Qualify in a personal best time in second round, and is now determined to make a charge for back to back National Championships for the team.

“This will be my first ever trip to the West on a Pro Stock Bike so I am really excited about racing at the Motorplex which is renowned as being a fast track,” Cochrane said.

“Once we sorted out the mechanical gremlins from the first round of the Championship our speed has been quite impressive and by gaining the bonus points in the last trip out we have kept ourselves in touch with the leaders.”

“I will be working really hard for a good result come race day in Perth as it is now make or break time for me to make a charge for the National Title for the team.”
