BRETT STEVENS RACING ON CHAMPIONSHIP CHARGE AT WINTERNATIONALS

Australia’s leading Drag Racing teams are on a final Championship charge as they gear up for the pinnacle event on their calendar, the Winternationals at Queensland ’s Willowbank Raceway this weekend (5th-8th June).

The Brett Stevens Racing team is entering the largest Drag Racing event in the southern hemisphere, which also doubles as the season finale for ANDRA Championship series, in the unprecedented position of leading three professional categories out of the four that it competes in, and is second in the other one.

Troy McLean has an unassailable lead aboard his Jack Daniel’s Racing Nitro Harley in the Top Bike bracket and is already guaranteed a maiden Championship victory after competing full time in series for five years without finishing outside of the top 3.

Pete ‘The Punisher’ Cochrane is also well placed at the top of the Pro Stock Motorcycle ladder on the Brett Stevens Racing prepared S&S Powered Buell. A win for Cochrane will give the S&S team back to back titles after Dion Prowse won for them last season in the debut year for the bike.

Finally, Brett Stevens himself is again on the verge of making another mark in the history books by becoming the first person in world to win three separate Championships in three different professional racing brackets as he looks to secure the Top Alcohol title in his Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car.

“The entire Brett Stevens Racing team has really been performing well this season and our current positions in the relevant National Championships are a credit to everyone involved with the team, but the job isn’t done yet,” Stevens said.

“I already have a Top Doorslammer and Top Bike title under my belt and for the last two years I have finished runner up in the Top Alcohol Championship, but this year my Kitten Car Care Products team have really stepped it up to another level and we are now in a fantastic position to finally take home the trophy.”

“We have really shown our dominance this season and all I need to do is qualify for the elimination rounds at the Winternats to gain enough points to win.”

“But that’s not how we want to do it, we will be gunning for the win and maximum points to really make it clear why we are on top.”

Looking down the barrel of his first ever Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship, Brett Stevens Racing team member Pete ‘The Punisher’ Cochrane is equally as excited about hitting the track at the Winternationals.

He is one of the countries most experienced Drag Bike riders but has amazingly never won a National Title and is now in a prime position to wrap up the professional Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship.

“I have had some big boots to fill and some high expectations put on me this season after the S&S Buell went through last year undefeated on debut in Australia ,” Cochrane said.

“And now I am currently on top of the table with just the Winternats left, but I have two other competitors within striking distance not too far behind that both have bikes capable of running the numbers to win.”

“So I won’t be holding anything back, I have just one goal in mind which is to win the event that will in turn also give me the Championship.”

The Brett Stevens Racing team will present an imposing presence at the Winternationals as the country’s largest professional race team enters an amazing seven Group One vehicles at the event.

In their pits will be two Jack Daniel’s Racing Top Doorslammers (Brett Stevens and Kath Stevens), two Jack Daniel’s Racing Top Bikes (Brett Stevens and Troy McLean), the Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car (Brett Stevens), the SP Racing Top Doorslammer (Steve Packman) and the S&S powered Pro Stock Buell (Pete Cochrane).
