BRETT STEVENS RACING TAKE CLEAN SWEEP IN THE WEST

Brett Stevens Racing has topped off a near perfect weekend at the Perth Motorplex for Round 3 of the Top Alcohol and Pro Stock Bike Australian Drag Racing Championship by taking out both professional brackets in a stellar display by the team.

Sporting a striking new Kitten Car Care Products livery in his Top Alcohol Funny Car, Stevens himself lead qualifying right up until the final run where he was pipped by just 5 hundredths of a second to finish in the number 2 position.

From there though ‘The Boss’ was unstoppable as he took out Western Australian local Damien Harris in the quarter final and Ben Bray in the semi final, both with a superior reaction time at the start line.

He then lined up against the last of the local hopes Mark Sheehan in the Final and in a fantastic side by side race (5.75 to a 5.80) that had the crowds on their feet, managed to take his first Top Alcohol win of the season and move to the top of the National Championship table.

“This has been a fantastic weekend for the team here at the Perth Motorplex, we really couldn’t have asked for anything more with me taking the win in Top Alcohol and Pete (Cochrane) taking out Pro Stock Bike,” Stevens said.

“There were no easy Rounds for me in the Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car either with each race going right down to the wire.”

“But I managed to get the Win light every time and have now taken the lead in the Championship which we will be doing everything possible to keep for the rest of the season.”

“I’d really like to thank my hard working Kitten Funny Car crew for their efforts and also like to congratulate Pete (Cochrane) and the S&S Racing guys for their great performance in Pro Stock Bike”

Cochrane added to the team’s success by taking his first ever Pro Stock Bike win aboard the Brett Stevens Racing prepared S&S Powered Pro Stock Buell.

On top of the win he also Top Qualified, grabbed both the ET and MPH bonus points and re-set the National Speed Record to 188.28mph (303.00kph).

“I have really been putting the pressure on myself to perform this season on the S&S Buell and it is great to finally get the monkey off my back and break through for the win.”

“I am over the moon that we have been able to do it in such style as well, this will be a weekend that I will remember for a long time and I’d like to thank Brett Stevens, S&S, my crew and everyone that has helped make this happen.”

“The job isn’t over yet though and I now have the National Championship in my sights as we go into the back half of the Australian Pro Stock Bike season just 15 points off the lead.”
