STEVENS MAKES MOVE IN TOP DOORSLAMMER CHAMPIONSHIP WITH BACK TO BACK WINS

Drag Racing star Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens sent out a strong message to his rivals in the Australian Top Doorslammer Championship on the weekend (March 3-4) when he took out the Westernationals at the Perth Motorplex.

Stevens drove his 3000 horsepower Jack Daniel’s Racing Falcon to the number 2 qualifying position with a 6.08 second pass in what was the quickest field in Top Doorslammer history.

From there he was unstoppable as he backed up his win in Sydney two weeks ago at the Summernationals with another victory at Perth .

“It was great to go back to back, the team is really on a roll and we have found the edge we have been looking for all season with our cars.”

“The Final wasn’t my best run of the weekend, I got out well but overpowered the track at about 330ft and Gary (Phillips) got past me. I was able to get the car to hook up again though and with the power we are now producing got back past him in the top end (of the race track).”

“This win has got us into a position where we are in Championship contention so we will be going all out to give me the best chance at this with just 2 Rounds to go.”

“We will also be hoping to get all three of our Falcon Top Doorslammers in the Finals fields for these events.”

Steve Packman driving the teams Glenfords Racing Falcon Top Doorslammer also had a sensational event qualifying in 6th position in the record Doorslammer field with a personal best time of 6.21 seconds.

He then went on to knock out Victor Bray in the quarter finals before going down to team boss Stevens in the semi final.

“We are finally getting down the track with competitive times and to go through to the semi final in what was the toughest ever Doorslammer field was just fantastic,” Packman said.

“The Falcons are unbelievable, even though it took us a little longer than initially anticipated to get the new combinations right we now have a package that will see big things for the team in the coming events.”

“Brett (Stevens) has showed that they can run consistent 6.0’s and I don’t think it will be long before both myself and Kath (Stevens) will be pushing close to these numbers as well.”

“I’m just happy that I have been able to repay Brett (Stevens) and all the sponsors for the faith they have shown in me and will be doing everything I can to keep my car towards the top of the field.”

Kath Stevens had a frustrating weekend suffering sever tyre shake throughout qualifying in her Jack Daniel’s Racing Falcon that was later found out to be a faulty fuel pump and burnt magneto.

The normally reliable Jack Daniel’s Racing Top Bikes ridden by Brett Stevens and Troy McLean also had their fair share of drama after a solid qualifying effort. In incredible circumstances, all of the top 4 qualifiers, including Stevens and McLean, suffered problems in the quarter finals and were eliminated.

The Wester Australian fans though did get the chance to see Dion Prowse aboard the National Championship leading S&S powered Pro Stock Buell for the first time ever as he completed some laps aboard the motorcycle in the Group 2 Competition Bike bracket with a best time of 7.32 seconds. Pete Cochrane also made the trip West with team running the S&S/Brett Stevens Signature motorcycle in Modified Bike where he make the Elimination Rounds.

The Brett Stevens Racing team will next be hitting the track in the Australian Drag Racing Championship at Willowbank Raceway in Queensland ’s for the Tin Top Titles on April 28.
