In my opinion, Spencer deserved to be fired. If, after attending Anger
Management classes, it was deemed by those professionals that AA treatment was in order, and he followed up on that, then come back
in a year or two and look for a ride. I mean good God, if you can't drink Coors LIGHT without tossing a plastic bottle on the floor and getting a sponsor or potential sponsor splashed with beer at a BLACK TIE event,
ya obviously have some kind of problem.
As for Whit, sure his Top End interviews were interesting, yet they were also very honest, be it about the race, safety, track conditions, NO FUEL CAR
making a Full Pull from the right lane during a Full Round of qualifying....whatever. He never was afraid to speak his mind about too much downforce being put on the Goodyear slicks and scoreboards being way too close to the track walls.
Long story short, in the pits, if you wanted to talk to him, he was always very cool to me. I never saw him snap at a fan. And BTW, he is now running a company out of beautiful Bend, Or. that will customize a bike trip to your skill level, fitness level, and time frame.... Try to keep up with Whit on the climb to Crater Lake. A more beautiful scene would be hard to imagine...
